The Montgomery County Department of Parks, Enterprise Division, is currently seeking seasonal/intermittent applicants to fill a variety of positions throughout Montgomery County.

Work hours are flexible and include evenings, nights, holidays and weekends. All selected candidates must display excellent customer service skills, attain First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications (training classes available) and attend in-house orientation. Ages 16-17 must have a work permit if hired.

Ice Rink Cashier/Customer Service Representative - Facility Aide II (Starts at $10.80/hr)
Cashiers are responsible for the collection of admission and course registration fees through the facility's point of sale and registration system and serve as the facility's first point-of-contact for customer questions and/or concerns. Cashiers must be comfortable performing basic computer functions (i.e. use of a mouse and data entry capabilities), have a pleasant, outgoing personality and also be knowledgeable of facility programs, fees, and policies. Cash handling experience preferred.  Qualifications: Weekend and evening work is mandatory. Minimum age: 16

Ice Rink Snack Bar Attendant/Cashier - Facility Aide II (Starts at $10.80/hr)
Prepares snack items for sale. Operates, monitors and cleans all food service related equipment (fryers, warmers, ovens, etc), include cash registers. Follows all safety and security procedures involving food safety, cash and inventory. Cashiers are responsible for cash handling. Cashiers must be comfortable performing basic computer functions (i.e. use of a mouse and data entry capabilities), and have a pleasant, outgoing personality. Cleaning of snack bar area, to include dining and cooking areas.  Cash handling experience preferred.  Qualifications:  Weekend and evening work is mandatory. Ice Rink Snack Bar Manager - Manager Aide I (Starts at $10.90/hr)
Responsible for the food service operations, including supervising the staff, under the direction of the facility manager. Ensures the food safety standards are met. Follows all safety and security procedures involving cash and inventory. Work with facility management to ensure weekly inventory and ordering procedures are completed. Qualifications: Weekend and evening work is mandatory. Food Safety training, managing staff, food service and cash handling experience preferred. Minimum age: 18.

Ice Rink Pro Shop /Customer Service Representative - Facility Aide II (Starts at $10.80/hr)
Responsible for the sale and inventory of merchandise and can serve as the facility's first point-of-contact for customer questions and/or concerns. Must be comfortable performing basic computer functions (i.e. use of a mouse and data entry capabilities), and have a pleasant, outgoing personality. Must be knowledgeable of all types of skating equipment, skate sharpening, fitting of skates, etc. Cash handling experience preferred.  Qualifications: Weekend and evening work is mandatory.  Possess a working knowledge of ice skating merchandise, skate sharpening skills, and proper skate fitting.   Minimum age: 16.  

Ice Rink Skate guard/Customer Service Representative - Facility Aide I (Starts at $10.75/hr)
Skate guards are responsible for patron's safety while skating on the rink, provides assistance to arena guests, and enforces building safety procedures. Distributes skates to customers. Performs routine cleaning tasks: sweeping, mopping, emptying trash, etc. Qualifications: Weekend and evening work is mandatory.  Must know how to ice skate. Minimum age: 16.  

Zamboni Operator - Manager Aide I (Starts at $10.90/hr)
Responsible for the operation and maintenance of ice resurfacing equipment (ice edger, zamboni, changing zam blades). Supervise part-time staff, ensure all ice equipment is operational, oversee daily facility maintenance and cleaning, completes ice measurements, and enforce facility rules and safety procedures, while providing excellent customer service. Oversees cash handling procedures while manager on duty. Knowledge of facility schedule, programs, fees and policies. Qualifications: Weekend and evening work is mandatory. Minimum age: 18
 
Cabin John Ice Rink Freestyle Monitor - Facility Aide I (Starts at $10.75/hr)
Take attendance for the session ensuring skaters have paid. Maintain organization of the monitors' box including skaters' music and freestyle belts. Play skaters' music in accordance with freestyle protocols and procedures. Understand and enforce the facility's freestyle etiquette and educate others when necessary. Encourage a positive atmosphere amongst skaters and coaches. Communicate any concerning issues to rink management. Qualifications: Basic knowledge of figure skating and knowledge of a freestyle session. Ability to work well with a diverse clientele. Minimum Age: 18.
 
Tennis Front Desk/Customer Service Representative - Manager Aide I (Starts at $10.90/hr)
Performs responsible program and/or facility management duties in assisting management staff. Serve as the facility's first point-of-contact for customer questions and/or concerns. Assists full time managers in overseeing the day to day operation of the facility; inspects for cleanliness, safety and sanitation.  Opens and/or Closes the facility.  Prepares daily bank deposits and runs cash reports.  Performs program registration, birthday rentals and court reservations.  Must be comfortable performing basic computer functions (i.e. use of a mouse and data entry capabilities), have a pleasant demeanor, and also be knowledgeable of facility programs, fees and policies. Cash handling experience preferred.  Qualifications: Weekend and evening work is mandatory. Candidate must possess the following skills or abilities:  Fundamental computer skills; answering phone calls; cash handling and point of sale operations; reservations; customer relations and multitasking. Comfort level working outdoors in remote areas; ability to lead a one-mile hike on moderate level trails if needed; assist Campground Activities Coordinator with programs and activities. Must be able to substitute for Activities Coordinator if needed.  Qualifications: Ability to work weekday, weekend and evening hours April through October.  Minimum age: 16

Campground Activities Coordinator - Manager Aide I (Starts at $10.90/hr)
Assist the Campground Manager with managing and operating camper activities and amenities such as pedal carts, jumping pillow, movie nights, ice cream socials, nature hikes and arts and crafts.  Must be able to create and facilitate program activities. Manage all aspects of camper programs, set up, lead or assist in activities and clean up. Work with other campground staff to promote and market these programs and activities to campers at Little Bennett Campground. This position works closely with the campers to provide excellent customer service. Other duties include cash handling and point of sale operations. Qualifications: Ability to work weekday, weekend and evening hours April through October. Minimum age: 18.
 
Event Operations - Facility Aide I (Starts at $10.75/hr)
Event Preparation/General Maintenance.  Assist with set up and tear down of tables and chairs for Park Event Centers. Assist with general cleaning of facility. Interpret and understand written diagrams of event space to ensure proper placement of tables and equipment requested by clients. Take down and store equipment in a proper manner. Assists with maintaining and repairing equipment and building as needed along with general facility and grounds cleaning. Qualifications:   Must be able to lift 30 pounds frequently and 5-10 pounds constantly. Must be available evenings and weekends (including early mornings).  Minimum age:  18

Event Center Host or Hostess - Manager Aide I (Starts at $10.90/hr)
Our three different park venues are comprised of indoor and outdoor space including a Log Cabin, and two Manor Houses. Responsibilities include opening and closing facility as scheduled for private, business and social events (mostly weekend weddings and parties) and wedding rehearsals at Park Facilities.  Job duties involve greeting guests and ensuring vendors and clients comply with facility rules and regulations.  Work hours include Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays with occasional weekday shifts available.  Most weekend shifts are a minimum of 9-hours and may be as late as 1am.  Must possess excellent customer service skills and present a professional appearance along with the ability to problem solve independently and communicate effectively. Qualifications: Must be available evenings and weekends (including early mornings).  Minimum age: 21.

Driving Range Attendant/Cashier - Facility Aide II (Starts at $10.80/hr)
Cashiers are responsible for the collection of admission and course registration fees and serve as the facility's first point-of-contact for customer questions and/or concerns.  Performs routine tasks including cleaning, maintenance, collection of golf balls from field on ball picker. Perform basic computer functions (i.e. use of a mouse and data entry capabilities), have a pleasant demeanor, and also be knowledgeable of facility programs, fees, and policies.  Cash handling experience preferred.  Qualifications: Weekend and evening work is mandatory. Minimum age: 16  
 
Train/Carousel Ride Operators - Manager Aide I (Starts at $10.90/hr)
Responsible for the daily operation of train and carousel rides and/or ticket sales for seasonal outdoor facilities (Cabin John Regional Park-train, Wheaton Regional Park - train and carousel). Tasks include daily opening and closing duties, safe operation of the rides, fiscal accountability for ticket sales, and cleanliness of the overall facility.  Ability to deal with large volumes of patrons in an outdoor setting is a must.  Qualifications: Weekend and evening work is mandatory. Minimum age: 18.
 
  Train - Special Event Staff for Halloween/Facility Manager Aide I (Starts at $10.90/hr)
(September through 1st week of November)
Responsible for creating, decorating, and implementing a Halloween (Eye Spy - Cabin John Train) and (Scary Halloween Train at Wheaton Train) themed experience for customers. Staff would also work the event either as a cashier or role playing (a scary villain) out in the park around the train tracks. Need creative ideas and theatrical experience preferred. Set up during September.   Operations on weekends in October.  Breakdown and clean up the 1st week of November.  Weekend hours are required during the event dates in October . Minimum age: 18.
 
Archery Instructor - South Germantown Rec Park/Rec Class Instructor 3 (Starts at $11.25/hr)
The Archery instructor will be responsible for developing lesson plans and programs in teaching participants about the sport of archery through an interactive and enjoyable experience.  Must be able to teach beginner archery programs to people of all ages and abilities.  Maintains a high level of safety and ensures that minimum standards for archery instruction and safety are consistently taught to all participants.  Instructs participants about range safety, steps in shooting and equipment upkeep and repair.  Responsible for range setup and clean up prior to and after each class.  Must show proof of certification earned through USA Archery.  Qualifications: Weekend and evening work is mandatory.  Supplemental Information: These positions are seasonal (part-time) and do not include benefits. Salaries are based on experience. A complete background investigation will be completed prior to hire.
