Temporary Human Resources Assistant - Part-Time - City of Kirkland ( Job # 17-0003)

Summary

This part-time position serves as first point of contact for Human Resources Department customers, performs a variety of activities in support of the Human Resources function, and provides administrative and technical support to the Human Resources Director and the Human Resources Staff.

Functions as first point of contact to Department customers and provides information and general assistance to City staff and the public regarding established City policies, procedures, and processes. Answers main Human Resources telephone line, responds to inquiries regarding the City and Human Resources programs or directs calls to the appropriate person/department.  Re-engineers and recommends process improvements to enhance efficiencies for division.  Maintains and updates the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) database. Generates ad hoc reports.  Organizes and maintains the front desk, waiting area and supplies storage of the Human Resources Department.  Supports the Human Resources Staff in all phases of the recruitment process.  Exercises considerable discretion when handling confidential information.

Note:    This is a two year part-time (.50 FTE, 20 hours per week) benefitted temporary position with approved funding through December 31, 2018.


Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in Business or Office Administration or related discipline, plus minimum 3 years Administrative experience. Two years of general office experience may be substituted for each year of college education.

Preferred Qualifications

Municipal experience and Human Resource experience are preferred.

Hours of Work

1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, or as assigned.    (Schedule subject to change depending on Department needs)

Working Conditions & Physical Activities

Work is performed in a typical office environment. Work is fast-paced with frequent interruptions from staff and public. Position requires extended periods of sitting while performing keyboard operations. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
