The Legal Department: Provides general representation to NYCEDC and its affiliates, and to New York City Industrial Development Agency and Build NYC Resource Corporation.  Attorneys in the Legal Department negotiate and draft contracts covering the transactions and programs of these companies, negotiate and draft contracts for the design, engineering and construction of NYCEDC's capital projects, counsel as to applicable law, provide general corporate advice and assistance and manage the companies' claims and litigations.

Your Role: As a member of our dynamic team you will provide professional administrative support for the General Counsel and the Legal Department; manage the administrative team to ensure full support for the Legal Department.


  • Assist the General Counsel with respect to all matters requested, including but not limited to: receiving and screening telephone calls, tracking messages, scheduling appointments, maintaining the calendar, typing documents, maintaining files, acting as the General Counsel's administrative representative to members of the Legal Department and to the Staff of the Corporation generally
  • Provide smooth administration of the Legal Department, including organizing the intake and distribution of faxes and mail, filing and updating of library materials (including maintaining supplements and pocket parts); updating Legal data on internal and external websites; maintain timekeeping system and act as a liaison between the legal department and MIS, HR and other service groups
  • Create forms and spreadsheets
  • Supplement efforts of other Assistants in supporting other Counsel, Senior Counsel and paralegals, including but not limited to preparation of contracts, ACRIS closing documents and PowerPoint presentations
  • Determine hiring needs, recruit and select administrative employees. Delegate and assign work as appropriate to administrative employees' capabilities and NYCEDC needs
  • Ensure all administrative employees are oriented to their position and provided with appropriate training development and continuing education. Monitor performance, provide coaching and feedback on an ongoing basis
  • Assist and/or arrange for the reproduction and binding of materials


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years experience in Administrative or equivalent
  • Flawless Word processing skills are a MUST
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and of PowerPoint
  • Ability to create clear, accurate, concise and well-organized written communications
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to make demands on people both inside and outside the Corporation
  • Ability to accurately execute assignments
  • Strong typing, basic math skills, advanced administrative knowledge, telephone call handling skills
