The Office of Inclusive Diversity (OID) is a newly established strategic business unit that is responsible for the development and execution of Yahoo's Inclusion and Diversity strategy. The OID works across business functions to develop inclusion strategies that help cultivate and leverage the power of diversity to unlock value for Yahoo.

The OID seeks a summer intern to focus on Employee Resource Group (ERG) Program Management.  The role will be responsible for the daily operations of the ERG program as well as the management of various ERG related projects. This is a pivotal role within the OID and the successful candidate will have enormous opportunity to contribute to the successful evolution of this important initiative at Yahoo.

The candidate will possess excellent written and verbal communications skills, finely-tuned project management skills, extreme attention to detail, impeccable judgement, irreproachable commitment to discretion and exceptional business acumen. This person will take ownership for ensuring smooth day to day operations across a variety of projects and initiatives.

Core competencies

  • Assertively and professionally advocates and drives top notch engagement with ERG Leaders and other stakeholders to ensure project goals are met and desired outcomes are delivered
  • Delivers a fully reconciled ERG budget on a monthly basis by working closely with ERG leaders to review and update Chapter plans
  • Collaborates with ERG leaders to design and update jive pages to ensure fresh content is highlighted
  • Seeks out and delivers a quarterly plan for development opportunities for the remainder of 2017 (e.g. training, conferences, courses, etc), build a budget around these opportunities, and manage logistics
  • Delivers fully conceptualized plan for an ERG Summit to engage leadership, members, and allies, celebrate the impactful work driven by the ERGs, and empower ERGs with the tools to drive initiatives to make an even greater impact on Yahoo's workforce, workplace, and marketplace.
  • Build and roll out a toolkit for increasing participation of ERG events, help recruit and encourage Yahoos to attend and participate in OID sponsored events, and help coordinate logistics for smaller events in our NYC office.
  • Develops and maintains reliable networks of resources that enable optimal operations and performance for the OID
  • Demonstrates a solutions-oriented focus and sense of urgency in completing programs and tasks
  • Proactively manages workload and bandwidth to ensure priority tasks are completed and maintains active communication on status and changes

Must be working toward your Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field of study. Business, Social Research, or Research/Library Science are preferred.

  • GPA: 3.5 or above
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and pro-actively manage expectations around deliverables
  • Excellent project tracking and follow-up
  • Flexible and willing to contribute in a small team environment focused on building a new business unit from scratch
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Highly proficient in MS Office (experience building JIVE pages a plus)
