Job Description:

Compass Group, the world's largest contract foodservice company, has a Great Opportunity for career development and growth here at its North America headquarters in Charlotte, NC as a Union Accounting Contract Analyst.

The Union Accounting Contract Analyst is responsible for identifying and setting up new union accounts and/or benefits in the Multi-Employer Pension Plan (MEPP) database correctly and in a timely manner. They will capture and interpret contract terms to ensure payment compliance, liaising with other departments and Union and fund representatives when necessary. They are also responsible for maintaining the integrity of the information housed on the MEPP and Union Accounting Contract Attributes Tracking System (U-CATS) databases. 

Responsibilities:

  • Identify new union accounts using multiple methods.
  • Set up new accounts in MEPP (add new union unit, flag for accruals, payroll default, assign contract to unit, add vendor number etc.).
  • Liaise with the field, Labor Relations, Benefits, Union Payroll, and Union and fund representatives to ensure the Union Accounting team has the most current Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) on file for each union account.
  • Capture and interpret the contract terms of new CBAs and separate the terms into various attributes/clauses, liaising with other departments and Union and fund representatives when necessary.
  • Coordinate the timing and transfer of payment responsibility with the Benefits Department and Labor Relations.
  • Establish a method and accrue for new benefit payments that will be paid a month in arrears, prior to first month of actual payment.
  • Request the set up of new vendors for all new union benefit payments using the Supplier Maintenance Request (SMR) in Remedy.
  • Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations monthly for new account accruals which must meet the Compass Group FAS-3100 Standards.
  • Document explanations for each assigned account balance within the Accountant's Balance Sheet (ABS) database monthly to ensure the validity of the balances.
  • Proactive audits of benefit payments
  • Ensure that systems and/or processes are in place to support contract clauses.
  • Maintain the integrity of the information housed in the U-CATS and MEPP databases.
  • Provide new account training to the field as needed.
  • Respond to field requests related to contract items.

Qualifications:

  • Four year degree required, Accounting or Finance preferred
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and working knowledge of Access
  • Ability to read and interpret complex Collective Bargaining Agreements
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong reasoning and judgment skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work continuously with tight deadlines
  • Exceptional customer service skills and "can-do" attitude
  • Must have drive and initiative and be self-motivated
