Chief Diversity Officer

The Chief Diversity Officer is a member of the People Leadership Team reporting to the Chief People Officer and leads the Diversity & Inclusion strategy for the company.

Brief Description

The Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) will lead Workday to become a more diverse, inclusive and equitable organization, and will help our external partners and customers reach their diversity and inclusion goals through the power of the Workday product.  The Chief Diversity Officer will synthesize information, build consensus, and gain buy-in from key internal and external stakeholders on Workday's diversity initiatives.

About the job:

  • In collaboration with the Chief People Officer and CEO, establish and clarify diversity objectives, goals and tactics
  • Create metrics to monitor the performance of diversity initiatives, establish tracking and reporting mechanisms, and communicate results
  • Cultivate the mindset and capabilities needed to become a culturally competent, diverse organization where all Workmates feels a strong sense of belonging
  • Position Workday as a leader in the D&I space, both internally and externally
  • Ensure hiring, pay and promotion equality throughout the various dimensions of diversity
  • Lead and grow internal, employee-led Employee Belonging Councils
  • Work with Talent Acquisition to embed diversity talent pipeline cultivation and recruiting best practices into the TA function
  • Develop key external partnerships to create access to diverse talent and strengthen Workday's reputation amongst diverse populations
  • Embed D&I best practices into our employee onboarding and development programs
  • Serve as counsel to Public Affairs and the Senior Management Team on external events and legislation that has an impact on our employees and/or our business
  • Work with business leaders to foster diversity within their organizations and prepare the talent pipeline for the future
  • Work with the Product teams to roll-out product enhancements that meet changing societal needs, and develop innovative new product and reporting features that allow our customers to reach their diversity and inclusion goals
  • Work with Leadership and Organizational Effectiveness to develop career development programs specifically targeting diverse talent at Workday
  • Work with Global Impact to strengthen career opportunities at Workday for nontraditional candidates
  • Provide annual diversity-related content for the Global Impact report and various external surveys
  • Work with Corporate Communications to share our diversity work with internal and external audiences
  • Serve as a product ambassador with customers and prospects, sharing ways in which the Workday product can be used to create a more diverse workforce

    Desired Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of direct D&I or related experience, preferably at a high-growth technology company
  • Deep understanding of D&I best practices
  • Proven experience developing and implementing programs that include a wide variety of corporate functions, including Talent Acquisition, Learning and Development, Supplier Diversity, University Recruiting, Philanthropy and Communications
  • Current active involvement in the corporate Diversity and Inclusion professional community, preferably in a leadership capacity
  • Analytical thinker with the ability to translate data insights into tactical plans
  • Ability to influence and drive action at all levels of the organization without a direct reporting structure
  • Experience delivering strategic diversity initiatives across a global organization.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience speaking in front of large audiences and with the media
  • Outstanding written communication skills
  • Ability to develop and communicate an overall strategic vision as well as the ability to implement programs at the tactical level.
  • Comfortable with risk taking and rapid iteration
