ABOUT THE POSITION

The Operations Analyst - IRA's and Qualified Plans will assist with executing the strategic direction of Individual Retirement Accounts, Health Savings Accounts, and Coverdell Education Savings Accounts. This individual will have extensive experience with the administration of retirement plans and in-depth knowledge of the rules and regulations of IRAs, HSAs, and Coverdell ESAs. The position will manage the day-to-day operations, reporting and administration of tax-advantaged accounts and provide direct and indirect member support as a subject matter expert. This position will also contribute to the overall success of the Wealth Management team and the broader Operations lines of business.

NORMAL DAY-TO-DAY WORK

  1. Oversee the day-to-day operations and administration of tax-advantaged accounts, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, organizational policies, and industry best practices.
  2. Develop and manage daily processes and procedures for the tax-advantaged accounts, including, but not limited to document review, account approval, account creation, contribution, and withdrawal reporting, required minimum distribution processing, and tax reporting for distribution withholdings and year-end interest statements.
  3. Formulate recommendations for policies and procedures to ensure accurate recordkeeping for tax-advantaged accounts. Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, quality and member satisfaction based on industry best practices.
  4. Build and maintain strong relationships with members, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  5. Support internal business units in developing the skills and knowledge to expertly support member tax-advantaged account needs at all levels of inquiry. Help establish the Credit Union's reputation as a thought leader in the tax-advantaged account space.
  6. Assist with reviewing and approving all marketing material, including appropriate forms and procedures.
  7. Develop expertise in all operational systems, applications, and ancillary tools necessary to support end-to-end processing of tax-advantaged accounts, including internal and external forms, systems, and procedures as well as reconciliation and settlement processing.
  8. Assist with the development and preparation of timely and informative management reports to ensure expert oversight of all tax-advantaged accounts and other Wealth Management accounts, services, and portfolio activities.
  9. Stay current with tax laws and regulations related to tax-advantaged accounts and business best practices through participation in industry events and continuing education for tax-advantaged accounts. Monitor legislative and regulatory changes that may affect retirement and savings products and make product and process recommendations as appropriate.
  10. Support the broader Wealth Management Department and Operations lines of business by demonstrating flexibility in knowledge development and task assignment in accordance with the evolving needs of a fast-paced production-driven operational department.
  11. Take ownership for actions, decisions, and results; openly accept feedback and demonstrate both the willingness and ability to improve.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Here are a few skills you MUST have to be qualified for this position.

  1. Minimum 4 - 6 years' experience in branch operations, member relations, or related field, with 1 - 3 years of direct experience with tax-advantaged accounts.
  2. Experience with operations and product development while providing a high degree of innovation and vision.
  3. Strong analytical skills with the ability to develop new products to stay competitive in the current marketplace.
  4. Ability to function in a Consumer business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including, but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
  5. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer printer).
  6. Travel required on occasion.

  1. BA/BS in Operations, Finance, Business Development, or related field.
  2. Certified IRA Specialist (CIS) certification.
