The Commercial Surety Underwriting Assistant, working under close supervision, supports the commercial surety unit by providing underwriting and automation system support. The role assists agents with WesCom Surety inquiries, including policy endorsements, navigational questions, researching and correcting premium differences. The role is also focused on assisting the Surety Underwriters with new business and renewal workflows such as securing information, and providing administrative assistance as needed. The role develops strong working relationships with Underwriters & Leaders, agents/producers/other distribution partners (producers), as well as peers and business partners.

  • Supports commercial surety underwriters with new business and renewal set up, application review, processing, and other assignments in support of the Commercial Surety product and unit.
  • Provides technical support to users of the automation system, educates and onboards new users, provides on-going support for users, and develops strong relationships with key producers, agency personnel, other distribution partners, and external/internal customers.
  • Resolves other non-technology related agency matters such as researching and correcting premium accounting differences, power of attorney requests, and assisting agents with proper bond forms.
  • Sets up new bond configuration into automation system, including mapping bond forms and updating obligee forms as needed.
  • Gathers outstanding information from producers and customers, including additional credit reports, D&B reports, bond forms, statutes, applications and other information as directed by the underwriter.
  • Communicates effectively with agents, customer, and home office bond department and escalates issues to management as necessary.
  • Ensures customer service excellence with internal business partners using Service Level Agreements (SLAs), metrics, and ongoing feedback regarding timeliness, quality, and quantity of completed work.
  • 0-2 years of Customer Service, Operations, Administrative, or other relevant experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED and/or commensurate work experience.

Location

Hybrid defined as three (3) or more days per week in the Charlotte, NC office
