Job Description

YOUR OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting Maintenance/Engineering Superintendent opportunity in our Guymon processing facility. In this highly impactful role, the position will be a key member of the maintenance team in either the harvest, warehouse, or fabrication departments. The superintendent will direct, manage, and coordinate the activities of a team responsible for the maintenance of a 900,000-square-foot fresh pork processing facility harvesting over 21,000 animals per day. This individual will provide leadership and oversight to ensure key performance metrics and efficiencies are attained on each shift while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to all company policies and standards including food safety protocols.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Provide leadership and effective direction for all activities related to maintenance, and workplace safety whether carried out by the team, contractors, or service companies.
  • Ensure all department systems and processes are carried out in accordance with company, local, state, and federal regulations, consistently meeting company and USDA standards.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills required for the mechanical and automated systems used in the operations.
  • Manage and report daily performance; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold them accountable for achieving these; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team and personal objectives.
  • Develop a competent team by utilizing hands-on training methods in the work area focusing on timely repair of all production machinery, and associated equipment in the plant.
  • Assist with budget for area of responsibility and/or conduct complex analyses on budget progress for the department.
  • Identify opportunities for decreasing the variation in processes and products and suggest improvements to existing processes, systems, and procedures, ultimately increasing customer satisfaction.
  • Initiate and maintain an effective and efficient preventative maintenance program for all systems including preparing and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules.


  • Oversee the documentation including installations, maintenance schedules, rebuilds, repairs, restores, and any/all information associated with the maintenance of the systems

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; or (5) five or more years related experience in pork or beef manufacturing facility or the combination of education and experience that enables performance in all aspects of the position, including supervisory experience.
  • Well-developed management skills utilizing sound management principles in leading a team of employees.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent communication skills. English is required including written skills. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and/or employees of the organization as well as third-party contractors during installation and integration of new systems and equipment.
  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse workforce and at all levels of management.
  • Flexibility in work schedule with long hours and some weekends required.
  • Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be able to solve problems quickly and with good judgement as well as coordinate team members to solve problems and carry out expected duties and expectations.



SCHEDULE



  • Monday-Friday 2:00 P.M. -12:00AM, Weekends & Evenings can vary depend on needs of business

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility.
  • The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work at times in an office and processing plant setting. The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, and exposure to airborne particles, chemicals, and gases at low concentrations.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be loud when in the production area and requires hearing protection.
