The Automation Technician is primarily responsible for the operational management and effective daily operations and administration for ASRS work cell and all associated automation associated with product distribution with the objectives of safely, efficiently, and effectively operating machinery and systems in a cost-effective manner. The Automation Technician with PLC experience must also ensure the highest level of professionalism, while meeting the clients' needs, and a commitment to achieving the goal of 100% uptime.
This role is 2nd shift and 100% ONSITE. Responsibilities: Protecting and improving the value of the client's assets and ensuring that ASRS and all supply line distribution equipment and systems including PSI, continue to perform their intended functions. Implement and manage the reliability-based maintenance function. This position also executes equipment inspection and monitoring programs; defines and implements maintenance best practices to improve overall mechanical equipment uptime; and continuously evaluates current maintenance, operations and reliability methods and implements changes to enhance effectiveness at increasing value-maximizing performance. Monitors operation and maintains ASRS equipment; robots, conveyors, and other mechanical and electrical equipment; reviewing logs as necessary to assure proper operation of equipment; responsible for reporting any problems/malfunctions on an as need/requested basis. Performs preventive maintenance tasks when required per manufacturing standard and frequencies, utilizing a CMMS. Oversees repairs and PMs of ASRS equipment and implements frequency of repair and/or PM per manufactures recommendations, standards, and warranty compliance. Ensures the availability of an adequate inventory of tools and other supplies to operate the ASRS and all associated automation, including PSI. Specific duties include but are not limited to: Preparing and submitting purchase orders requests, Developing sources for stock materials, Performing periodic checks of inventory levels and equipment conditions. Responsible for overseeing the activities of contractors working, operational demonstrations, or training sessions within the ASRS distribution work cell, as a representative of JLL and client. Identify safety hazards within the ASRS work cell and incorporate the remediation of such hazards to ensure that the staff and occupants work in a safe environment. Implement, administer, and manage safety training associated with work cell /ASRS. Ensure compliance of all regulatory laws and guidelines are met as they relate to the operation of the ASRS work cell infrastructure. Responsible for alerting management of any discrepancies. Help support Chief Engineer to maintain MEP infrastructure and compliance documentation for the building including up-to-date building drawings and single-lines as well as documentation mandated for the purpose of maintaining regulatory compliance with Federal, State or Local law. Supervise and manage all aspects of ASRS operations, repairs, maintenance, and parts inventory. Ensure that the CFWA (Critical Facility Work Authorization) is a well-understood process among staffing and contractors who perform work on/in the ASRS critical infrastructure and work cell. Provides training and support aimed at expanding the capabilities of the team. Specific duties include but are not limited to: Demonstrating the proper use and care of tools and instruments, Giving hands on instruction in basic maintenance and safety and troubleshooting procedures, Instilling an overall level of professionalism in manner and appearance. Create, perform and close out work orders with data including labor hours, equipment maintenance and parts used, in the CMMS. This position will require a minimal amount of Overtime, as needed, after hours and weekends. Provide secondary back-up associated with PTO, Sick Days, etc. for Chief Engineer as needed. Maintain a positive working relationship with all customers, clients, contractors and visitors. Requirements High School Diploma or GED. Post technical school or degree preferred. 4+ years of experience working with commercial operating systems and general maintenance procedures. 2+ years of work order management. Experience with electrical and electronic principles and industrial electronics. Able to complete training to become a Swisslog- Supper User and become proficient with: Ability to manually move robots and bins throughout system, Rescue robots from grid, Access and ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve system issues using Autostore portal. Make repairs and adjustments to system (robots, ports, etc.) using Autostore portal. Ability to open tickets with Swisslog global helpdesk and help troubleshoot issues. Experience with Java, Microsoft, and C++ High familiarity with Autostore Console (ASC). Preferred Comprehensive knowledge of maintenance processes. Preferably robotic maintenance. General knowledge of building MEP equipment and systems a plus. Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Office and CMMS systems. Demonstrated excellent verbal/written communication skills. Certificate or higher degree from a vocational school or college with a focus in the Mechanical, Electrical, or Robotics field. Experience with Electro mechanics or Mechatronics. Experience working with automated conveyors and controls or 4+ years apprenticeship or equivalent experience in the Mechanical or Electrical field. Experience with robotic maintenance. |
