The Longhorn Wellness Center is the health promotion unit servicing University Health Services and Counseling and Mental Health Center. Counselors in Academic Residence Program (CARE), is a unique program of the Counseling and Mental Health Center that embeds licensed mental health providers within all colleges and schools to provide mental health services for undergraduate and graduate/professional students. This position may provide mental health services on location in the Moody College of Communication at UT Austin. CARE Coordinators provide the following:
As CARE Coordinator, you will use your expertise to support the students enrolled in the Moody College of Communication at UT Austin. You will provide short-term individual and group counseling and outreach to students who seek services with our program. Outreach activities may include presentations to students enrolled in your supported school(s), campus partners, supervision and training of social work / psychology interns and post-doctoral psychology practicum students, and development of training materials used within your area. Provide short-term individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and case management, to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Moody College of Communication at UT Austin.
Reviews client record to determine the progress, effectiveness, and appropriateness of treatment services offered. Maintains current, accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and federal law, professional ethics, and Counseling and Mental Health Center, CMHC, policies. Coordinates referrals between CMHC and university or community service providers. Provide clinical consultation to others on an as-needed basis and seeks consultation when appropriate. Provide urgent care services as necessary to students.
Provide outreach and support to undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Moody College of Communication at UT Austin and campus partners.
Other required activities
May provide clinical training and supervision to social work and psychology interns, as well as pre-doctoral psychology practicum students.
