Position Summary
This position supervises environmental services staff, ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and maintenance of college facilities during the night shift. This position is responsible to supervise, train, mentor, assigns, instruct and check the work of employees performing custodial duties, coordinating cleaning schedules, maintaining supply inventory, and ensuring all tasks are completed. Interviews and recommend selection of applicants, acts upon leave requests, conducts annual performance evaluations and recommends disciplinary action in support of campus operations. The supervisor will respond to urgent custodial needs, conduct inspections, and provide training and guidance to environmental services employees. This position requires knowledge of recycling, solid safety practices, and equipment use. This position reports to the Environmental Services Manager.

Essential Functions
-
- Trains other leads in supervisory techniques, new product and equipment use.
- Instruct employees in proper cleaning techniques and safety practices; maintain compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
- In accordance with College policy, prepares performance evaluations for the staff; sets up meetings to reviews performance evaluations with the crew members.
- Evaluates the total work of employees against established standards and counsels them on performance.
- Operates a safety program by training crew members in safety and maintains a follow-up program on accidents and safety prevention techniques.
- Meets with vendors to learn about new products, makes product tests and recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and machinery.
- Prepares a variety of reports such as analyses of custodial workloads, service requirements, and employee job performance.
- Maintain key and portable radio security including any other assigned equipment; maintain a record of equipment assignments; Identifies, reports, and takes corrective action to resolve maintenance problems; routinely check and inspect conditions of facilities and equipment and takes necessary corrective action for deficiencies; initiate work orders for repair/maintenance.
- Maintain the security of assigned areas and report hazards and/or security violations immediately.
- Ensures that equipment is properly maintained.
- Establishes the location of various collection points, collection schedules, records and quality control operations relating to material recycling programs, including necessary contacts with recycling vendors.
- Determines staffing, equipment, and supply needs for buildings; oversees activities in assigned area of responsibility.
- Follow written and/or verbal instructions regarding use of chemicals, supplies and equipment; comply with safety policies and procedures; prepare work orders for repair and/or maintenance and maintain written custodial logs.
- Occasionally drives light trucks, vans and other mobile equipment.
- May be a working supervisor performing custodial tasks, when required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of Safety Standards and Cleaning Standards.
- Maintain respect and confidentiality, ethics, integrity, and sound professional judgment.
Duties of the position required experience:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Requires two years experience supervising or directing others in large-scale housekeeping, janitorial, general or building maintenance or custodial work setting.
- Experience working in custodial, janitorial, general maintenance, or housekeeping.
(This position will be an In-Training position if the candidates do not meet all the required experience listed above)
Required conditions of employment:
- Successful completion of a criminal history background check.
- Possess a current valid unrestricted driver's license.
- This position serves as essential personnel during emergency situations or inclement weather.
- Capable of moving or relocating items up to 50 pounds, ability/willingness to work at heights (including those above 10 feet) and in confined spaces and ability to perform repetitive functions such as reaching, bending, lifting, pulling, and kneeling.
- Possess a CPR/First Aid certification or obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Ability to work effectively for extended periods during inclement weather, perform rooftop maintenance, rooftop cleaning of debris, assist grounds crew clearing pathways, roadways, and stairways of snow, ice, etc.
- Ability to meet the requirements of an In-Training Plan (if applicable)

Terms of Employment
This is a full-time
overtime eligible non-permanent classified position currently scheduled to work Sun.-Thurs. 5:00 pm-1:30 am
OR Sun.-Thurs. 4:00 pm-12:30 am. The salary range is $
3,728
- $4,987 per month plus $1.00 per hour shift differential for evening shifts. Must be available occasional mornings, evenings, nights, and weekends as needed. Summer schedule may vary to four 10-hour days. Work location is TCC main campus and Gig Harbor Campus.
