THE JOB:

The Special Events Manager is responsible for overseeing the project management of events, including casino marketing, sponsorship activations, and various property-level events. In addition, they support event directors with the management of cross-property and corporate events. As a key team member, the Event Manager demonstrates flexibility and enthusiasm, taking on a wide range of projects and events across diverse environments both within and outside of MGM Resorts.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Creative Event Management: Serves as a solution-focused project manager, overseeing all aspects of event planning from concept to reconciliation. This includes managing production meetings, schedules, invitations, decor, audiovisual needs, staffing, safety, gaming compliance, and event setup and teardown.

  • Liaison and Account Management: Acts as the primary point of contact for management, staff, vendors, guests, and departments, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring smooth coordination for event-related transactions.

  • On-Site Event Execution: Provides real-time event oversight, ensuring flawless timing, execution, and resolution of challenges to meet MGM Resorts International's high standards. Includes supervising on-call event staff and delivering exceptional service to all stakeholders.

  • Financial Oversight: Manages event budgets, tracking and projecting expenses while analyzing financial outcomes to maintain fiscal responsibility and optimize results.

  • Collaboration with Event Design: Partners closely with event design teams to offer premium service solutions, ensuring seamless integration of creative concepts and project execution.

  • Strategic Initiatives: Drives innovation by supporting initiatives to attract new clients and deliver exceptional experiences for MGM Resorts, Casino Marketing, and other stakeholders through the Event Productions Center of Excellence.

  • Additional Duties: Perform other job-related duties as requested.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in event planning, management, or a similar field.

  • On-Site Expertise: Demonstrated ability to proactively address potential issues and react swiftly to challenges, making sound judgments to ensure seamless execution during live events.

  • Exceptional Customer Service: Strong ability to engage and build rapport with guests, clients, and team members, ensuring a positive and memorable experience.

  • Resort/Casino Industry Experience: Proven background in the resort or casino environment, with an understanding of operations, guest dynamics, and event coordination in these settings.

  • Casino Marketing or Special Events Expertise: Familiarity with casino marketing strategies or experience managing special events to attract and retain guests.

  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team, fostering collaboration, communication, and a commitment to excellence.

  • Strong Problem-Solving Abilities: Skilled at anticipating challenges and proactively addressing issues to ensure seamless event execution and exceptional outcomes.
