Who you are:

  • Required: Bachelor of Science or Business Administration in Accounting
  • Required: CPA Certificate
  • Required: 5+ years of high-level accounting experience
  • Required: Highly efficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Preferred: Experience in public accounting and/or experience in a credit union/financial institution
  • Preferred: Experience with Blackline or accounting reconciliation software

What you'll do:

This position is responsible for supervising the day-to-day accounting operations. These responsibilities include but are not limited to managing the month-end financial close process, reviewing monthly reconciliations, compiling and analyzing data. Work product will be used in the accounting, regulatory reporting, and financial reporting functions of the Credit Union. The Accounting Manager must be a detailed oriented leader with an analytical mindset that will lead a team of ten (10) accountants.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:
    • month, quarter, and year-end process
    • accounts payable/receivable
    • cash receipts
    • general ledger, payroll, and fixed assets reconciliations
  • Hire, train, develop, and lead accounting staff members while overseeing departmental tasks
  • Provide internal control and process improvement of accounting functions to maintain accuracy and improve efficiency
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting package in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to review data sets, implement complex searches, and produce financial reports with use of Microsoft Excel Visual Basic, Macros, and/or Pivot tables
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with all Credit Union departments
  • Communicate with the finance department to accurately record investment portfolio transaction activity
  • Assist auditors with periodic auditing of the organization's financial records
  • Review tax reporting to ensure accurate and timely remittance of federal, state, county, and city tax returns
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of regulatory reports including Call Report (Form 5300), Report of Transaction Accounts, Other Deposits, and Vault Cash (FR 2900)
  • Proactively research new and emerging financial accounting standards (FASB)
  • Maintain familiarity with and follow all policies, procedures and processes which have been established in order to meet compliance requirements of all applicable federal regulations. The regulations include but are not limited to the Privacy Act, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Reg. CC and Patriot Act
