Job Summary

The Supv-Anesthesia Tech Svcs assists the anesthesia manager with daily scheduling of anesthesia tech staff as well as helps establish a staffing model which meets daily productivity expectations. Other responsibilities will include maintenance of system-wide anesthesia cart database, coordination of reprocessing and repair of fiberoptic scopes and coordination with Biomedical engineering to ensure proper maintenance, function of anesthesia equipment, responsible for maintaining, cleaning, storing and providing equipment and a clean environment in all OR rooms. Enhances case efficiency by reducing case turnover time and length. Maintains confidentiality standards with team. Demonstrate sensitivity to patient dignity, comfort and privacy. Gives high priority to patient experience.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates the departmental orientation of new technicians. Plans, implements and promotes the education and training of technicians to ensure professional development. Evaluates, reviews and reports staffs' ability to provide support to the anesthesia team members. Develops/coordinates education plans related to initial and ongoing competency validation specific to the team needs.

  • Works with Anesthesia Manager to develop staffing schedule as well as daily assignments for staff.

  • Works with Anesthesia Manager in managing/ordering and arranging of supplies for the department through OR Materials Services. Communicates with Manager when there are issues with ordering of supplies.

  • Coordinates with SPD for reprocessing and repair of fiberoptic scopes throughout Prisma Health.

  • Coordinates with Biomedical Engineering to ensure proper maintenance and functioning of anesthesia equipment. Communicates any OR equipment needs with OR Equipment Coordinator.

  • Assists anesthesia management with regulatory readiness and any duties requested by department leadership for system-wide needs.

  • Participates in quality control, audit and review of anesthesia tech processes and workflow.

  • Reviews daily productivity for staff according to the OR schedule.

  • Monitors OR turnover data and assist as needed for quick turnover needs.

  • Coordinates all Human Resource needs with Anesthesia Manager.

  • Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's dignity, comfort and privacy.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

  • This is a supervisor job which may have direct supervision of team members which may include hire/termination authority, disciplinary authority, and performance management responsibilities.May have budget input or responsibilities. Job is not considered a member of management staff.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education - High School diploma or equivalent

  • Experience - Two (2) years as an Anesthesia Technician

In Lieu Of

  • In lieu of HS and 2 years of experience, will accept graduation from a 2-year Anesthesia Tech program approved by ASATT and 1 year of experience.
