POSITION DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a Workstudy indivicual for I3R. This position will be responsible for assisting the Prototyping and Fabrication Manager to setup and help maintain a Maker Space, Machine Shop, and Additive Manufacturing space.

We are seeking someone with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively on interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating the ability to work independently and collaboratively. A professional demeanor and the ability to establish effective working relationships are crucial in building trust and influence to accomplish work within a setting that includes a wide array of individuals, groups, policies, and processes.

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES:

Initial Setup (Phase 1):

* Assist with unpacking, setting up, and installing various equipment and machines in the Maker Space, Machine Shop, and Additive Manufacturing areas.

* Ensure all equipment is properly configured and ready for use in accordance with safety guidelines.

* Collaborate with team members to organize the layout of tools, machinery, and supplies to optimize workflow and accessibility.

Ongoing Support (Phase 2 and Beyond):

* Train on the operation and maintenance of a variety of equipment including 3D printers, laser cutters, and other advanced fabrication tools.

* Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the spaces, ensuring tools, machines, and supplies are stored properly and ready for use.

* Assist in monitoring the use of equipment, ensuring that users are following proper safety protocols and usage guidelines.

* Help manage and track the inventory of materials and supplies, including ordering replacements as necessary.

* Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to users of the space as needed. Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Engineering or Architectural student enrolled at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville campus

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
