Overall Purpose

This role is responsible for planning and delivering projects on time, on budget and with successful operation of either waterfall or agile methodologies with some oversight. Throughout the lifecycle of each project, tracks project status and manages project teams proactively mitigating risk and managing issues to effective resolution. For agile projects this may include acting in the Scrum Master role, which includes the smooth operation of Scrum/Kanban teams processes and activities, organizing and facilitating daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sizing sessions, backlog grooming sessions, and end-of-sprint ceremonies as well as creating dashboards and reports to show team productivity.

Essential Functions

  • Participates, guides and develops project plans to manage technical project activities, interdependencies, scope management, success criteria, deliverables, along with resource management and monitors assigned project(s) to keep on schedule and on budget.

  • Engages/ motivates cross-functional teams to meet deadlines and deliverables according to business objectives.

  • Actively participates with the teams with following Scrum/Kanban practices, disciplines, and values to be consistent, effective, and productive.

  • Drive building a trusted and safe environment within the team and coach team members to work effectively through self-organization, accountability, and driving team ownership of building successful outcomes.

  • Develop and maintain backlog management processes and ensure that security, infrastructure, and operational requirements are represented by stories in the backlog, prioritized appropriately, properly groomed, and accepted by the applicable team(s)

  • Drive sprint planning to ensure Scrum/Kanban teams are set for success in their commitments.

  • Drive continuous improvement through facilitating retrospectives and owning action plans.

  • Work closely with Product Owners, Tech Leads, Portfolio Leads, and stakeholders to understand the project strategy, vision, and priorities. Ensure development delivery is aligned and ensure backlog items have clear and concise acceptance criteria to ensure 'as-expected' results for each.

  • Engages all organizations including architecture, legal, risk, security, compliance, delivery and vendor management with some oversight to ensure effective adherence to completing SDLC governance.

  • Proactively removes impediments for the project team to ensure continuous flow of work and maintains an active risk and issue log.

  • Create partnership and coordinate with partner functions to ensure team's development work is reviewed in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Create dashboard and reports that provide consistency and productivity metrics and can provide teams and the organization with relevant product delivery status.

  • Supports the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and experience typically obtained through completion of an Bachelors degree or equivalent.

  • 1 or more years Project Management or related work experience.

  • Working knowledge of Agile management tools (e.g. JIRA)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead efficient agile teams and achieve business objectives

  • Ability to build professional relationships within Project Management function and cross functional teams

  • Critical thinker who can envision processes end to end.

  • Action orientated, takes initiative, and seeks guidance to achieve desired outcomes

  • Requires understanding of patterns and techniques in managing Sprint ceremonies, handling of bugs/defects, and variations of leading productive teams

  • Understands Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies and Project Management methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate across all levels of the organization, and clearly articulate ideas verbally and in writing is necessary.

  • Ability to work with multiple teams and drive to a common goal.

  • Background and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with agile delivery models and related analytics

  • Requires working knowledge of Agile management tools (e.g. JIRA)

  • Financial acumen relating to budgeting, accounting, and planning.

Physical Requirements

Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling, and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers. Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers.

The pay scale for this position in:

Phoenix, AZ/ Chicago, IL in USD per year is: $75,000 - $105,000.

San Francisco, CA in USD per year is: $85,000 - $120,000.
