Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in a related field. In lieu of a degree, four (4) years of directly related full-time experience or a combination of higher education and experience totaling four (4) years may be considered. Five (5) years of full-time experience in plan review and/or project administration. Current certification of New York State (NYS) Code Enforcement. Knowledge of and experience working with NYS Environmental Quality Review Act Regulations. Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Preferred Qualifications: Additional years of experience in plan review and/or project administration. OSHA Certification. Experience in higher education, the public sector, and/or a unionized setting.
Brief Description of Duties: The Code Compliance Manager will review drawings and specifications, issue building permits and Certificates of Occupancy, conduct field inspections, and ensure all construction is performed in accordance with the approved plans and all NYS Building Codes and Standards.
- Review plans and construction design documents for compliance with all NYS building code requirements. Provide feedback for planning, design, and construction teams and engage manufacturers and technical representatives to ensure planned installations are compliant. Complete/review environmental impact assessments for campus projects for conformance with SEQRA.
- Inspect projects during construction for code compliance.
- Review all plans and specifications for State University Construction Fund (SUCF) and the Dormitory Authority for the State of New York (DASNY) administered projects.
- Provide direction to planning, design and construction to resolve code compliance issues. Record and maintain records of campus buildings and utilities updates.
- Issue building permits and certificates of occupancy.
- Support the Campus Code Coordinator and campus fire marshals in the review of existing code issues for the campus.
- Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
Special Notes: This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such may be required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
