Job Summary: We are seeking a Staff Accountant to manage and oversee Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and financial reconciliation processes to support our expanding trading and distribution business. This role is instrumental in maintaining financial accuracy, mitigating risk, and ensuring operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee customer accounts, ensuring timely collections and resolving payment discrepancies.
- Work with vendors to validate net gallon reconciliations, pricing accuracy, and invoicing terms.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payments, credits, and account reconciliations.
- Manage railcar and bulk liquid invoicing, ensuring compliance with contractual agreements.
- Calculate and track demurrage, overage, and detention charges, resolving disputes as necessary.
- Work closely with logistics and scheduling teams to reconcile BOLs (bills of lading), shipment records, and inventory balances.
- Establish and enforce credit limits, payment terms, and collection strategies.
- Develop financial risk reports for internal leadership, identifying potential areas of concern.
- Ensure alignment between accounting, risk, and trading desks to maintain financial accuracy.
- Assist in hedge accounting, trade confirmations, and financial exposure tracking.
- Perform month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Maintain general ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with GAAP, IFRS, and internal accounting policies.
- Support tax filings, regulatory reporting, and SOX compliance requirements.
- Identify efficiencies in financial operations, implementing automation and workflow enhancements.
- Work with IT and finance leadership to optimize ERP, accounting, and risk management systems.
- Drive best practices for data integrity, cash flow management, and financial controls.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in fuel commodities, energy, logistics, or trading environments.
- Strong understanding of commodity trading, fuel hedging, and bulk liquid reconciliation.
- Experience with railcar invoicing, demurrage calculations, and logistics accounting.
- Proficiency in ERP and accounting software (SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar).
- Knowledge of hedge accounting, risk management, and financial forecasting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and generate insights.
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams.
