The
HVAC Controls Department is responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of control systems that regulate the operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (
HVAC) systems in campus buildings and facilities.Our goal is to ensure that
HVAC systems operate efficiently, providing optimal comfort, air quality, and energy efficiency while adhering to safety standards. The
HVAC Controls Department handles the installation, configuration, maintenance, energy optimization, and troubleshooting of
HVAC systems. It performs testing and commissioning, provides ongoing monitoring and maintenance of campus systems, and ensures compliance with safety checks and regulations. |

Brief Summary of Work for this Position |
The
HVAC Controls Mechanic will assist Control Technicians in analyzing building automation and control systems and recommending modifications to achieve better operation or energy efficiency.
Responsibilities Include:
- Perform measurements and adjustments and repairs to DDC, electrical and pneumatic control systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance on building control system devices and assists in the preventive maintenance of heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, ventilation equipment.
* This position has been designated as mandatory personnel for the University and may be required to report to work during adverse weather conditions, even though the University may be operating on an alternate schedule. This position may assist in the removal of snow, ice or debris, as required. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. |
Preferred education, professional skills and experience |
- Working knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), Energy Management Systems (EMS) and/or process automation systems.
- Ability to learn to install and troubleshoot DDC sensors and control devices, including the conduit and cabling systems required.
- Ability to use a personal computer and learn to diagnose and manipulate equipment, using Building Automation Systems.
