Job Summary Sr Engineer, MOCVD will play a critical role in process optimization, focusing on enhancing efficiency to achieve company goals, and ensuring the successful implementation of operational initiatives. Responsible for designing MOCVD growth conditions for epitaxial wafer customer requirements. With full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways. Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair MOCVD reactors and support characterization of epitaxial materials. Duties & Responsibilities
- Characterize epi materials using PL, X-ray, Polarons, Hall and other instruments.
- Works on complex issues where analysis of situations requires an in-dept evaluation of variable factors.
- Exercises judgement in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair reactors, bending, lifting heavy objects (>50 lbs.), and wearing Self Contained Breathing Apparatus.
- Design, install, and test equipment upgrades and modifications to improve uptime, yield, cycle time and throughput.
- Develop and utilize characterization and analysis techniques to enhance material properties.
- Maintain MOCVD database and generate required calibration curves for technicians.
- Analyze available statistical process control parametric data to formulate engineering reports and action plans for review with project teams and management.
- Write detailed and concise laboratory work instructions and draft work instructions, safety guidelines and specifications for new and existing equipment.
- Propose, design experiments, and implement MOCVD process capability enhancements for products.
- Operate any MOCVD reactor as required.
- Maintain substrate and wafer inventory.
- Train technicians in reactor operation and safety procedures and/or designate other senior technicians to train as required.
- Attend meetings and interact with customers and suppliers.
- Order needed supplies (chemicals, substrates, spare parts etc.).
- Networks with senior internal personnel in an outside area of expertise.
- Provide support, training, and guidance to other team members.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- 10 + years of MOCVD experience.
- 10 + years of experience using diagnostic tools such as thickness monitor, optical reflectance, PL, DVM, Polaron C-V profiler and others as needed.
- Knowledge of semiconductor devices and the underlying semiconductor device physics.
- Experience in inspection of components using a microscope and visually.
- Experience in working around and with toxic gases and/or liquids.
- Experience with programs such as Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) and database programs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience with producing specialty materials.
Education Bachelor's degree required. Compensation: The anticipated range for this position is $115,000 - $130,000. Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including but not limited to skills, education, and experience. Physical requirements/Work Environment This position primarily works in a production laboratory team environment.
- Stand unassisted for prolonged periods of time, an average of 4 hours/day.
- Lift objects up to 50 lbs.
- Climb 8 footstep ladders.
- Handle small, fragile components with precise hand movements.
- Wear and change in and out of cleanroom clothing many times per day.
- Wear Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCUBA), requires medical qualification.
- Wear and change in and out of full bunny suit and wear respirator or SCUBA.
- No facial hair that would impede proper operation of a respirator or SCUBA.
- Hearing corrected to normal level.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
