With operations in California, Oregon, and Pennsylvania, we manufacture softwood and hardwood lumber, particleboard, and hardboard siding.

Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Lead a safe working environment:

    • train employees in safe equipment operations;
    • motivate employees to lead the operation to superior safety performance;
    • engage in continuing education and improvement to processes and work procedures; and
    • lead safety behavior by example.


  • Perform and record checks and measurements on the product during production.
  • Produce and present quality control reports on logs/sawmill/planer size statistics, optimizers, operators, equipment, grade recovery, and shipping.
  • Attend supervisor meetings to report data.
  • Proficiency in WWPA grading standards.
  • Proficiency in optimization technology and software.
  • Train staff on key performance indicators and optimization.
  • Perform additional duties as required by supervisor.
  • On-site attendance is essential to effectively perform the listed duties and responsibilities.


Supervisory Responsibilities:



  • Lead and mentor vacation relief employees, scanner technician, and other staff as assigned by management.

    • Responsible for performance management of direct reports in accordance with company values, objectives, and policies.
    • Provide mentoring, coaching, training, and support consistent with developing and sustaining a high-performing and accountable team.




Required Skills and Abilities:



  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate team members.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong reasoning and problem-solving skills; ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Ability to read and understand service and technical manuals.
  • Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy with lumber grading.
  • Knowledge of green and dry manufacturing specifications.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to self-direct and prioritize workflow.
  • High analytical ability.
  • Ability to manage several assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines.


Education and Experience:



  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in quality control in a manufacturing operation preferred.
  • Hold at least one (1) grading certificate from the WWPA, preferred.
  • Internal candidates will be given priority selection.


Environmental Conditions:

May be exposed to dust, noise, trip hazards, and variable weather and temperatures.

Required Personal Protective Equipment:

Individuals must be willing to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times. Positions may require additional PPE at specific times. Examples of PPE which may be required include high visibility garments, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, a hard hat, foot protection, and a face shield.

$75,000.00 - $90,000.00 annually
