Title:Quality Improvement Specialist - MIHP

Location: 100% Remote / Must live and work in the state of MI.

Purpose: The MIHP Quality Improvement Specialist will oversee the Provider Application Process and Certification Review process of the Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP) agencies.This Specialist will conduct quality improvement efforts to improve and support the internal processes of the MDHHS MIHP and of services being rendered by MIHP agencies statewide.This Specialist will perform project coordination responsibilities under the guidance of the Maternal Infant Health Unit Manager and Perinatal and Infant Health Section Manager.The MIHPQuality Improvement Specialist will coordinate and support the program's strategic planning, implementation, monitoring, collaboration, and evaluation, and serve as a liaison on behalf of the MDHHS MIHP with internal and external programs and staff.

• Collaborate and consult with MDHHS Maternal Infant Health Program Team members and agencies statewide.
• Coordinate and guide activities related to the MIHP Provider Application Process and Certification Review.
• Prepare and submit required reports for the MIHP and conduct any surveys or studies necessary for the completion of reports or program implementation.
• Report issues or concerns to the unit and section managers.
• Collect and maintain program data necessary to meet program implementation and reporting requirements.
• Present information, provide technical assistance, operational guidance, and consultation for the Maternal Infant Health Program.
• Provide or arrange for necessary consultation, and arrange/support logistic arrangements (agenda, meeting notes, literature research, and presenters as needed).
• Work in partnership and collaboration with other units within MDHHS and external stakeholders to facilitate the quality improvement of the Maternal Infant Health Program.
• Analyze program operations and recommend modifications of policies and/or procedures to improve program processes, impact, and stakeholder satisfaction.
• Coordinate MIHP home visiting strategies that align with the Advancing Healthy Births plan, the statewide strategy to integrate interventions to address gaps in health and wellbeing for mothers and infants.
• Provide quality improvement guidance to assigned Regional Perinatal Quality Collaboratives (RPQCs)
• Represent the department at external work groups and meetings.
• Represent the unit, section and division on internal committees and work groups.
• Always represent the best interests of MDHHS and MPHI.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree in any major is required.

Experience: A minimum of four years of professional experience in maternal and child health is required. At least four years of project management experience and/or experience in successfully implementing quality improvement projects is required. Preferred experience in addressing maternal and child health needs of communities at risk of poor health outcomes.

• Knowledge of the scope, objectives, functions, and principles of maternal and child health
• Experience improving disparities in health outcomes.
• Experience improving population health via a case management framework.
• Ability to lead successful quality improvement projects.
• Ability to plan and conduct meetings.
• Proficient in maintaining records, preparing reports and correspondence related to the work.
• Proficient in Excel.
• Effectively able to communicate with others both written and verbally.
• Ability to maintain favorable public relations

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: General office and remote office setting. Requires some travel across the state and to the central office for in-person meetings. Moderate physical demand.
