Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences:

The Khaled Lab is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Laboratory Coordinator II. The research interest of the Khaled lab is developing new cancer treatments, using cutting-edge nanotechnology, and understanding the underlying changes that drive metastasis to discover new molecular targeted agents. As part of the UCF College of Medicine, the Burnett School has 56 full-time faculty, more than 2,000 undergraduate majors, and 150 graduate students in M.S., Ph.D., and M.D./Ph.D. programs. The Opportunity:

The Khaled lab is seeking qualified candidates to fill a Laboratory Coordinator II position at the Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences in the College of Medicine at UCF. This Laboratory Coordinator II will work independently, conducting laboratory experiments, which include molecular biology skills, such as cloning plasmids and cell biology skills, involving flow cytometry, histology, nucleic acid and protein assays, microscopy, and live cell imaging. This individual will also have basic training with animals, such as mice, and be able to perform injections, tumor measurements, euthanasia, and necropsy.

Responsibilities:


  • Coordinating day-to-day laboratory activities for 3-5 laboratory members and conducting experiments in the Khaled lab.

  • Ordering reagents and supplies.

  • Maintaining chemical and reagent inventory logs.

  • Maintaining all compliance and regulatory documents.

  • Experiment record keeping.

  • Experimental database management and maintenance.

  • Training all new lab personnel and tracking the training of existing lab personnel.

  • Conduct laboratory experiments, which include molecular biology skills, such as cloning plasmids and cell biology skills, involving flow cytometry, histology, nucleic acid and protein assays, microscopy, and live cell imaging.

  • Training with animals, such as mice, and be able to perform injections, tumor measurements, euthanasia, and necropsy.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in laboratory team coordination or management.

  • Experience with electronic lab notebooks and record keeping.

  • Molecular biology proficiency includes molecular cloning, cell and tissue culture, PCR, gel electrophoresis, protein immunblot, fluorescence and confocal microscopy, and flow cytometry.

  • Expertise with handling mice, performing injections, and tumor growth measurements.


Special Instructions to the Applicants:

The anticipated hourly range for this position is $20.29 to negotiable. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

This is a Contract and Grant (C&G) funded position. Employment is subject to availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.
