Position Summary:

At SIG SAUER INC., we specialize in cutting-edge defense technology, including remote weapon stations (RWS) that push the boundaries of innovation. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team. This role is critical to supporting the design, prototyping, and testing of our advanced electro-mechanical systems. As part of a dynamic engineering environment, you will collaborate with engineers to build and test prototypes, troubleshoot complex assemblies, and ensure the successful delivery of innovative solutions. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role ideal for individuals with a strong technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for building next-generation technology.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Execute and support assigned tasks and project activities with accountability for deliverables.
  • Assist in engineering activities, including building prototypes, subassemblies, and test units under the guidance of engineers.
  • Support engineers in refining prototype designs by identifying manufacturability, assembly, and performance issues.
  • Read and interpret complex drawings, diagrams, and instructions to perform testing, troubleshooting, and assembly tasks.
  • Assist in the selection and sourcing of mechanical & electromechanical components, working with buyers and suppliers to meet technical and lead time requirements as directed by engineers.
  • Fabricate and/or assemble, integrate and maintain test equipment as required.
  • Use data acquisition equipment, e.g. high-speed video, data loggers, etc.
  • Create and maintain build documentation, test reports, and standard operating procedures to capture design iterations and lessons learned.
  • Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
  • Follow all required ISO procedures, comply with EH&S (Environmental Health & Safety) training requirements, comply with all SIG SAUER INC. Range Rules, and adhere to SIG SAUER INC. security mandates.
  • Travel regularly between local SIG SAUER INC. facilities and infrequently for other assignments.
  • Occasional international travel to train, test, or maintain systems.
  • Maintain a flexible approach to work in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and targets.
  • Execute miscellaneous duties as assigned.


Education/Experience & Skills:



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an engineering technician in a prototype or engineering development lab environment.
  • Proficient in reading and understanding complex mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, assembly drawings, and test procedures.
  • Proficient with common hand tools and power tools, such as pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, torque wrenches, depth micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, pressure gauges, multimeters, test boxes or specialized test equipment.
  • Hands-on experience building and troubleshooting fully integrated systems (mechanical, electrical, software), e.g. drones, vehicles, testbeds.
  • Experience running functional checkouts and diagnosing issues discovered during these processes.
  • Proficient at documenting test outcomes and communicating findings to engineers.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications. Familiarity with CAD tools such as SolidWorks is a plus.
  • Experience operating and maintaining firearms is preferred.
  • S. Person status required due to access to export-controlled data.
  • Adaptability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.


Working Conditions:



  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
  • Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
