We specialize in manufacturing uniquely designed high tolerance precision machined components and assemblies, with a focus on continuous improvement, on-time delivery, and the highest possible quality and consistency. The CNC Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, calibrating, and modifying mechanical, electro-mechanical, and electronic control systems for CNC machine tools, manufacturing processes, test equipment, and associated machinery. This role requires technical expertise, analytical skills, and a commitment to safety and teamwork in a dynamic manufacturing environment Duties/Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, repair, calibrate, and modify a wide range of CNC machine tools and related equipment.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues, including those related to programming, tooling, setup, instrumentation, calibration, and other errors, using analytical methods.
- Perform preventive maintenance on CNC and conventional machines and process equipment, incorporating modifications and revisions as necessary and ensuring documentation is updated.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including but not limited to LOTO, confined space protocols, fall protection, hot work permits, and NFPA 70e standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of facilities and work areas.
- Operate and utilize complex electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, recorders, vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, ball bars, laser alignment tools, and electronic levels, as needed.
- Actively contribute to a team-based work environment, including participation in daily team meetings, professional communication with team members, and openness to new ideas and feedback.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proven experience with FANUC and/or MAZAK controls.
- Ability to maintain, repair, adjust, and modify complex process equipment and instrumentation.
- Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and following detailed blueprints, schematics, and instruction manuals related to hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical apparatus of CNC machines.
- Experience in at least one of the following areas:
- Installation and precision alignment of machine tool mechanisms
- Ball screw replacement
- Linear guide replacement
- Spindle replacement
- Physical capability to perform maintenance tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, stooping, climbing, and working in elevated positions.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; proficiency in shop math (Algebra, Geometry, Decimals, Fractions).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies with precision tolerances for restoring CNC machines to OEM specifications
- Minimum of two years' experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Practical experience in CNC machine repair or equivalent (two years minimum).
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex mechanical drawings, schematics, instruction manuals, diagrams, and N/C and PLC (ladder) programs.
- Familiarity with testing equipment such as multimeters, ball bars, and laser alignment tools.
- Demonstrated experience adhering to safety protocols, including LOTO, confined spaces, hot work, and NFPA 70e compliance.
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
- Continuous analytical ability required to troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems and interpret intricate schematics and documentation.
- Exposure to physical effort during machine repair, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working in awkward positions.
- Must be comfortable working at elevated levels.
- Regular exposure to chemicals; proper PPE usage and adherence to safety protocols required.
- Potential exposure to voltages up to 480 volts, with strict PPE compliance and safety adherence.
- Availability for scheduled overtime or emergency call-ins as needed.
