The Business Intelligence and Data Analyst plays a crucial role in leveraging data to drive informed business decisions and optimize performance. This position involves extracting, analyzing, and interpreting large datasets to provide actionable insights, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making processes across the organization. This individual will be a key contributor in transforming raw data into meaningful intelligence, helping departments understand trends, identify opportunities, and mitigate risks.

RESPONSIBILITIES Data Analysis BI Development and Interpretation 50%
  • Analyze and interpret complex data sets to identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and visualizations for key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
  • Design and implement business intelligence solutions using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Develop and optimize ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes for efficient data retrieval and transformation.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability in business intelligence solutions.
Database Design and Administration 20%
  • Design and implement database structures based on business requirements.
  • Develop efficient SQL queries, stored procedures, and triggers.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and availability.
  • Monitor database performance, conduct regular maintenance, and optimize for efficiency.
  • Implement backup and recovery plans to safeguard data.
  • Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related tools.
Server Management 20%
  • Manage virtual servers used for hosting the results of the data analysis and business intelligence solutions developed.
  • Manage virtual servers used to run extract, transfer and load (ETL) operations that move data between systems.
  • Manage other college servers as needed for things like website hosting and file storage.
Continuous Improvement and Professional Development 10%
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend system enhancements to drive efficiency and productivity.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  1. BA/BS in relevant fields and at least four years of experience, OR master's degree and at least two years of experience.
  2. Demonstrated ability to write complex SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
  3. Hands-on experience building dashboards and reports in Tableau, Power BI, or Qlik.
  4. Demonstrated experience using Python or R for data analysis, statistical modeling, and automation.
  5. Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, dimensional modeling, and experience working with data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery).
  6. Proven experience using Microsoft Excel for data analysis, pivot tables, and charting.
  7. Experience installing, configuring, administering Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services on Windows Server.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Proven experience (3+ years) in a Business Intelligence, Data Analyst, or similar role, demonstrating a strong track record of delivering actionable insights from complex datasets.
  2. Experience creating data visualization workbooks and data sources using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server.
  3. Familiarity with basic server administration tasks in Linux and Windows environments.
  4. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  5. Experience designing and building desktop applications using Microsoft Access, Filemaker, Microsoft SQL Server, or similar platforms.
  6. Experience using Git or GitHub for version control of scripts, queries, or analytics projects.

Pay Range: $90,000-$100,000; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 100% Appointment
