TEKsystems is currently supporting a client Mercer County, NJ hiring for a mortgage underwriter. This role is a long-term contract opportunity with potential to convert to full time. Applicants with experience in underwiring various loan types and working in a fast paced environment are encouraged to apply. Description The Underwriter is responsible for the manual review of loan packages to determine applicant qualification status. Work with-in a team environment to address applicant documents and complete a thorough review. * Manually underwrites all loan types in accordance with investor guidelines * Ensures all origination guidelines, for federal/state regulations and investor requirements, are met * Files submission to investor for approval, if applicable * Manually reviews all documents in package * Ensures compliance with timing of underwriting decisions, to be completed within 30 days of receipt of complete application * Monitors investor guideline changes * Handles audit inquiries, as needed * Communicates effectively with clients, vendors, and internal departments by phone and correspondence * Qualifications* * 3 - 5 years of prior mortgage underwriting- experience with FHA/VA/Conventional loans * Strong attention to detail and administrative skills * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Detail oriented * Ability to work in a fast paced environment Additional Details: * Monday - Friday * 8am-5pm * Fully on-site role Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $32.00 - $35.00/hr.
