Overview of Position:



As part of the development of our strategy for ESG, low Carbon, the Renewables Lead Surveyor role has been created to provide a technical focal point for all renewable's activities at LRQA South America, reporting to the Operations Manager - Inspection Services South America.The role liaises with LRQA Renewables Lead Technical Specialist to mange local accreditations and plan for the South America development of certification, assurance and consulting services helping our clients to fulfil their ESG and low carbon strategy. Actively participate in main Brazilian renewable forums to ensure that LRQA can anticipate and plan for regulatory changes.As an initial role the Renewables Lead Surveyor will help on identify local market needs and identify competency gaps to achieve LRQA local strategy plan and further implementation.The role requires a strong technical background and sound market knowledge to support LRQA staff and our customers.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Ensure North America organization obtain/maintain required accreditations for LRQA to undertake accredited work in the renewables sector: predominantly for wind turbines, but support for solar, hydro, biofuels and other sources of renewable energy.
  • Networking with the renewables sector to ensure LRQA anticipates market trends and demands to help develop the business.Support the Sales teams globally to help develop the renewables business.


  • Support the Sales teams to help develop the renewables business, market and services.
  • Work with the operations manager to ensure LRQA's procedures are practical, compliant and maintained in line with best practises.


  • Participate on renewables technical network to support surveyors and the business to drive technical performance and customer responsiveness.
  • Deliver training courses to help ensure the technical competence of surveyors and the business enables a competitive advantage for LRQA - Assist in training, mentoring and developing technical personnel to gain authorisations.
  • Keeps track of lessons learned from investigations and shares those lessons with TQG team members and service/ sales delivery teams.
  • To pursue Continuing Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Monitor and review health and safety performance, observe safety behaviours in the workplace, taking appropriate corrective and preventive action as necessary and suggesting and implementing improvement activities.
  • Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships.



Technical / Professional Qualifications / Requirements:




  • Educated to a minimum of Bachelor's Degree level and equivalent to a Chartered Engineer (Civil, Electrical or Mechanical)
  • They shall have experience of the renewables sector : wind turbines essential, additionally preferablefor electrical systems (which will be an ongoing requirement)
  • Sound knowledge in materials, welding and NDT techniques
  • Technical knowledge of IECRE rules, IEC 61400-22 and other similar standards
  • Good communication skills and fluent in English are essential and, mentor other surveyors within LRQA and represent the business to clients and on technical committees
  • Available to travel to perform surveys/inspections
  • Base location is flexible
