World Energy Efficiency Services, an XL Fleet Corp. company, is an energy services company (ESCO) focused on assessing, developing, engineering, and managing commercial energy efficiency, renewable and electric vehicle technology projects. Specifically, projects include commercial, industrial, and municipal building energy audits, project scope development, equipment specifications and ROI analysis. We work with local utilities and their incentive programs, present project analyses and provide turnkey energy efficiency project solutions for our customers. Our vision is to reduce our customer's energy consumption as much as possible through energy efficiency upgrades and controls, and then implement renewable technologies to lead them to a sustainable future. We also assist customers with carbon reduction through solar, fleet electrification, and electric vehicle charging stations.

Headquartered in Worcester, Massachusetts, with branch office located in Cromwell, World Energy is primarily focused on serving commercial, industrial, and municipal customers in Southern New England. This position will report to the Worcester headquarters.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Jr. Solar Engineer who is excited about World Energy's value proposition and is ready to lead the best ESCO sales team in the region. A strategic, critical thinker with a passion for design, the Jr. Solar Engineer will drive the growth of World Energy's project pipeline through targeted direct sales to multi-site industrial, commercial, institutional, and public sector customers.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is able to tap into their Northeast market expertise and engage key partners from day one. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of engaging in the solar project lifecycle from development to construction, designing layouts using AutoCAD and Helioscope, understanding the technical components of a solar PV system, has prior experience filing permits in the New England Area and greater Northeast, and conducting financial analysis for projects under different interconnection scenarios.

This position will report to the Vice President and will aid in completing proposals, designing, interacting with the clients, aiding in the procurement cycle, and moving projects into construction. The ideal candidate will primarily have design and engineering experience in the solar industry and experience filing permits for solar projects. They will also be required to be able to adapt to multiple tasks and wear multiple hats in order to succeed. A background in renewable technologies, energy efficiency, auditing, and/or electrical engineering is a must.

The position will require some travel throughout the Northeast, with a primary focus on Connecticut, Massachusetts and Rhode Island to visit customers, conduct on-site assessments, and propose projects via a consultative sales process to close deals.

Position has a base salary determined by related and relevant experience (posted at both Sr. and Jr. levels) plus a lucrative and uncapped commission plan.

Key Responsibilities

* The Solar Project Engineer is responsible for engineering, design (using AutoCAD, HelioScope), and delivery of grid connected solar photovoltaic systems (including rooftop, carport, and ground mounted arrays) on time and on budget.

* Assists the Vice President and Solar Project Developer with all tasks within the scope of the project

* Design to include; scope of work, complete bill of materials, specifications, bid drawings and project schedule.

* The Solar Project Engineer will produce pre-conceptual designs with accompanying production estimates and review structural, geotechnical, environmental, permitting, and zoning challenges for projects.

* He/She will review solar system engineering designs, modeling, and performance data, and provide engineering support during the construction process.

* Manage outside consultants to obtain assessments of project structural or geotechnical considerations, interconnect issues, and to identify the required approvals from Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).

* Review the costs of structural estimates, interconnection, procurement, permitting agreements, production estimates, and assessment of commercial risk factors.

* Oversee the development of structural and electrical designs for net-metered roof, ground and parking canopy solar electric systems that meet all national, state and local code requirements as well as customer defined requirements.

* The Solar Engineer will provide final bids, proposals, and RFIs, and provide support during construction and commissioning.

* Coordinate the permit application and interconnection process with the utility

* Maintain design and proposal requirements, knowledge of codes and standards, design procedures, methods and process, improve efficiency of project development and project selection process

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering

* Previous work experience in the Solar Industry (Min. 1 year, 3 preferred)

* Knowledge of solar equipment and installations.

* Knowledge of the incentive & REC programs available throughout the Northeast.

* Excellent interpersonal skills.

* Experience in Helioscope is essential.

* Experience in AutoCAD is essential.

* Experience in Salesforce is a plus.

* Professional appearance and a friendly disposition.

* Ability to relate technical information in layman's terms.

* Able to wear multiple hats and handle multiple projects simultaneously

* Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

* Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite products
