HOW YOU WILL IMPACT OUR TEAM:

A CNC Machinist works as part of the machine shop department taking direction from the shop supervisor and/or the group leader. Provides in-process inspection checks and documentation. Works closely with the shop Inspector and manufactures parts that meet or exceed Ferrotec's workmanship standards. Standards include a high level of cosmetic emphasis on all piece parts manufactured within the machine shop. Provides labor transactions on the business operating system. May be required to have personal tools calibrated based on inspection/calibration policies. Achievement of objectives must include an over-riding commitment to quality that must permeate the areas of responsibility. Enable and Drive Change in the Organization.

Safety shoes and safety glasses with side shields are required.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:

Common CNC machinist job responsibilities are listed below. Other tasks will be assigned on a day-to-day basis as required to support the objectives of the company.


  • Sets up and operates CNC milling or other machinery according to blueprint specifications.
  • Develops methods, sets up, and machines components to high-quality standards and tolerance requirements of +/- .002 to +/- .005 inches.
  • Possesses a proficient understanding of ANSI Y14.5 and inspects parts using precision measuring tools.
  • Tests accuracy of settings and programs.
  • Understands and optimizes proper feeds and speeds.
  • Works with most types of conventional machines or 2-axis CNC mills, lathes, various metals, and plastics
  • Operates machines, monitors operation and control panel displays to detect malfunctions, adjusting accordingly.
  • Helps establish time estimates, then strives to meet times as assigned to each job.
  • Possesses a personal set of machinist/inspection tools that will be compatible for close tolerance measuring of various lengths and diameters.
  • Shares expertise with less experienced machinists.
  • Follows all safe work practices & safety rules.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area and complies with the company's safety requirements.
  • Participates in Hazard Communication and Hazardous Waste Management training as required to comply with state and federal regulations within six months of hire and annually thereafter.

WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM:


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years' CNC machine experience or combination of experience and technical school training.
  • Experience with Akira-Seiki machines and/or Mitsubishi CNC Controllers is a plus
