The Program Coordinator will support the development and implementation of special initiatives for research, training, and educational activities of UIC Alcohol Research Center. This role will work alongside the director and faculty to identify areas for the center's operational goals and objectives which include providing exceptional outcomes, creating an engaging culture, contributing to an ideal team experience, planning for strategic growth, and ensuring a sustainable and successful future. They will promote educational activities of the center by developing and advertising infographics and organizing seminars. The Program Coordinator will also be responsible for arranging investigator collaboration and distributing collaborative ideas, methods, etc. In conjunction with the Director and principal investigators, the Program Coordinator will represent the Director and various Primary Investigators through coordination of various projects of the center and neuro research.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead various research and training projects within Alcohol Research Center in collaboration with the Director of the Alcohol Research Center and corresponding Primary Investigators to improve the overall staff and student experience and strategic sustainability of the center.
  • Responsible for the development of collaborative spaces within the Alcohol Research Center; organize and lead activities related to the center's operational goals among all collaborators while representing the Director, as needed; manage daily activity within the Alcohol Research Center.
  • Responsible for the development of project work plans and performance metrics, monitor work plans and metrics to ensure activities are executed on time and on-budget, coordinate the internal and external resources to complete activities as assigned; collaborate with the Finance and Grants team to manage Alcohol Research Center budget.
  • Promote educational and outreach program of the Alcohol Research Center; develop and advertise infographics for any and all Alcohol Research Center activity and facilitate training seminars to expand the research program exposure and increase revenue.
  • Maintain, organize, and store the experimental data in the assigned electronic space as well as in file folders.
  • Responsible for tracking, monitoring, and communicating monthly, quarterly, and yearly progress on mission critical projects to respective stakeholders of the Alcohol Research Center and basic neuroscience research program.
  • Manage and execute UIC Alcohol Research Center human resource needs in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatry's Human Resources team; activities include hiring needs, University training, etc.
  • Perform additional work related to center activities as needed such as organization of retreat for the center and preparation of progress reports.


Minimum Qualifications Required:
  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. A total of one (1) year (12 months) of professional Business Management experience. (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Project management and organizational skills (one year of direct project management experience preferred).
  • Demonstrated analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, management and communication skills.
