An
NIH-funded Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available immediately in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, for a self-motivated scientist to study the intestinal mucosal immune response involved in the devastating intestinal disease affecting premature infants called necrotizing enterocolitis (
NEC). We utilize a neonatal mouse model of
NEC, microfluidic gut-on-a-chip platform, and patient samples to study the intestinal mucosal immune response and understand the signaling pathways that are involved in the pro-inflammatory response seen in

NEC, to identify novel diagnostic strategies enabling us to intervene earlier in the disease process. Highly motivated applicants should have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will benefit from both the outstanding environment in the lab and the highly collaborative
