Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Engineering Technology in the School of Science, Aviation, Health and Technology at Elizabeth City State University ( ECSU) offers undergraduate programs leading to Bachelor of Science degrees in Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering Technology. The Department also offers a M.S. in Mathematics with concentrations in Mathematics Education, Applied Mathematics, Community College Teaching, and Remote Sensing. The primary purpose of the unit is to provide quality higher education and cutting-edge research experience to our students.
Description of Work
The primary purpose of this position is to temporary fulfil grant requirement by providing cutting-edge research and quality research experience and education to our students.
Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position
Required Knowledge and Experience:
* Expertise in the fabrication of nanopowders and micropowders using plasma reactors.
* Strong knowledge of piezoelectric materials, ferroelectric polymers, and semiconductors.
* Experience in multi-scale nanomaterials characterization, including techniques such as: Transmission Electron Microscopy ( TEM), Spectroscopic methods, Nano-probe analytical techniques
* Hands-on experience in the fabrication of functional nanocomposites.
* Basic understanding of computational modeling of materials, which will be developed further in collaboration with the Principal Investigator (PI).
Additional Required Skills:

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, essential for working effectively with faculty, students, and research collaborators.
* Strong technical and analytical abilities, particularly in a materials science research setting.
* Proven ability to write clear and concise technical reports.
Effective organizational and customer service skills, suitable for a dynamic and research-oriented environment.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
Management Preferences
PH.D. in Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or related field.
0-5 years of relevant experience in materials and nanomaterial research.
