Genesys Engineering, P.C., a subsidiary of Willdan is seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Project Engineer in our Construction Division. Genesys Engineering is a fast-growing company with many projects focused on energy efficiency; mechanical, electrical and IT infrastructure; sustainability; and State and utility-run incentives. Our energy efficiency services are a fast-growing specialty within our broader energy consulting practice. Our construction division of our Engineering Company is looking for a Project Engineer to join our Field Team. This position is responsible for assisting the Project Managers and/or Construction Managers in coordinating the activities of a project to ensure schedule, document control and quality standards are met as well as ensuring that all aspects of our services are being delivered to the highest level to guarantee client satisfaction. Must have means for transportation to various job sites throughout New York City and lower Westchester County.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Project Manager and/or Construction Manager in all phases and aspects of the project.
  • Assist in coordinating daily responsibilities with Contractor and their Sub-contractors.
  • Assist in coordinating with the client and/or facility of activities or schedule changes.
  • Follow the Companies Best Practices.
  • Review Specifications and Drawings and become familiar with the project and critical path items.
  • Obtain and maintain all current and required documentation as per the contract on the FTP site (Procore), and internally.
  • Attend weekly project meetings and keep detailed meeting minutes for publishing to project team.
  • Assist in coordinating upcoming activities with the prime contractor based on the schedules provided.
  • Assist the PM/CM in identifying, correcting and/or avoiding potential schedule, budget or quality issues.
  • Take on the role of the onsite Point of Contact if required to provide coverage of the jobsite if the PM/CM is unavailable.
  • Prepare and upload Daily Reports and photos on Procore.
  • Coordinate Special Inspections and Commissioning Agent activities.
  • Support Safety Inspections, and coordinate Tool Box Talks. Ensure commitment to safety for everyone on the project.
  • Coordinate with designers to ensure timely reviews of all RFIs and Submittals.
  • Potential of swing shifts/weekend work.
  • Keep a record of all change orders and work with CM/PM to generate change order packages.
  • Work collaboratively with outside parties (I.e., consultants, stakeholders) to accomplish client goals.
  • Compile and log closeout documentation.

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in construction or related industry. Knowledge of the design and commissioning process is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Knowledge of MEP/HVAC/Boilers/Chillers in the commercial sector.
  • Previous experience using Procore, or willing to obtain Procore training certifications.
  • Be able to apply innovative solutions to maximize employee and Subcontractor performance.
  • Knowledge of industry practices, policies, and standards.
  • Ability to maintain and develop client relationships with high needs multi-stakeholder clients. Effectively engage clients in the construction process. Respond to client concerns in an effective, professional and timely manner.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills. Capable of maintaining project documentation and working on multiple activities at one time.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel to assigned construction sites (current or future).
  • OSHA Site Safety Training (SST-62).
