Organizational Unit Overview
Facilities Services is a unit in the Campus Operations Division, which is a part of a broad division of Administration and Finance that includes all aspects of facilities management at East Carolina University. East Carolina University is the third largest university in the University of North Carolina system, with approximately 28,000 FTS and a staff of over 6,000. The university comprises of more than 7 million square feet of facilities located on approximately 1400 acres with physical assets in excess of $1.5 billion. This includes the Main, Health Sciences, and West Research Campuses, and satellite locations throughout North Carolina associated with university programs. Facilities Services has an annual budget in excess of $30 million and employs approximately 500 FTE. Major functions include facilities maintenance and housekeeping services.

Facilities Service's primary purpose is to plan and perform corrective and preventive maintenance functions on all building structures and equipment, and utility infrastructure. Corrective maintenance returns equipment to optimal design performance after failure or upon degradation from age, adverse operation conditions, etc. Preventive maintenance minimizes equipment failures and reduces corrective maintenance.
Job Duties
Facilities Services is seeking an experienced facility professional for the Locksmith Supervisor position on ECU's Main Campus. The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership in the Locksmith Shop, customer service to campus, receive/assign work order requests, design and layout of campus master keying system, maintain inventory, set priorities, and make assignments to Locksmith Technicians. Responsibilities also include participation in construction design meetings, final inspections, submittal review and comments, managing contractors for specific projects, providing cost estimates/proposals, maintaining a computer-based Master Keying system, and managing the department Key Trail system. Position requires a NC Locksmith license with understanding of multiple tiered master keying systems, key bittings, different core keyways, including high security keyways, pinning of cores, and cutting keys. The position will have the knowledge and skills necessary for installation, maintenance, and repair of complete commercial door systems, including but not limited to exit devices, closures, various hinges, mortice locksets, cylindrical locksets, electrified hardware, and automatic opener/closures. Work is performed independently under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Building Services. This position is additionally responsible for three subordinate positions in the performance of their duties, completing evaluations, approving work hours, continuing education, and NC Locksmith license renewal requirements.
Minimum Education/Experience
High school diploma or equivalency and two years of experience in trade(s) areas assigned; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation
