About the Job

ABOUT THE POSITION
Position Overview
This position supports research conducted at the CNS Lab at the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain. The CNS lab is a multiple PI-led research lab with a significant grant funding portfolio across multiple departments (Pediatrics, ICD) housed at the Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain at the University of Minnesota. Meghan Swanson and Jed Elison are co-Directors, and Casey Burrows is the Director of Clinical Training. The lab focuses on understanding brain and behavioral development of infants and young children. More specifically, our research examines the critical period of brain development in the first two years of life, which represents a time interval of dynamic development, plasticity, and potential vulnerability. Our research participants include typically developing children, autistic children, children with agenesis of the corpus callosum, infants with congenital cytomegalovirus infection, and children with Down syndrome.

Drs. Meghan Swanson and Jed Elison will be launching a new study of 260 autistic toddlers and children. The goal is to characterize how communication develops in this population across multiple ages and language profiles and to generate new quantitative tools that are sensitive to change and ready for deployment in clinical trials and clinical care. We are seeking an expert research professional with extensive laboratory and early childhood experience to play a leadership role in supervising and directing this research project. Responsibilities for this position include research development and oversight, strategic leadership, training and supervision of research teams, administration, reporting, and publication. This position requires working independently while leading and directing work of 10-20 team members, frequent use of novel problem-solving strategies and planning, and procedural adaptation to ensure successful completion of all research project goals in a timely, cost-effective, and efficient manner. We expect this individual to be an expert in their field.

This is an in-person position with opportunity for remote work. Please upload a cover letter and CV/resume. Your application will not be considered until all components of the application are complete. Review of applications is ongoing, and the position will remain open until the posting is removed. This position reports directly to Dr. Meghan Swanson.
