Ramboll is accepting applications for the Summer 2026 internship program at our office located in Chicago, IL. Each participant will be assigned a mentor who will guide them through project assignments. The program will provide internship participants with the opportunity to gain experience working in one or more practice areas. Our goal is to afford our interns experience with a variety of projects during the summer program to broaden their understanding and experience within their field of interest.

As our new Intern, you will be working with Project Managers and other Consultants on a variety of environmental investigation/remediation, environmental compliance, health and safety, sustainability, and/or due diligence projects within our broad Environment and Health practice. You will help deliver innovative, inspiring, and sustainable solutions that set new standards and make a genuine difference to our clients, the environment, and society. As you work on challenging projects, you will be given increasing responsibility and rely on experienced managers and colleagues to offer support and a helping hand as you learn and develop in your role.

Job Description

Your role may include a variety of work such as:

* Completing environmental field and health and safety training

* Participating on project teams, evaluating remediation and environmental control technologies, and developing plans for site remediation

* Performing environmental field sampling including soil, soil gas, groundwater, and indoor air sampling

* Conducting research on current environmental regulations and technologies

* Assisting sustainability, air quality, and environmental due diligence practitioners as needed

* Conducting data analysis and visualization for inclusion in technical reports

Qualifications

* Candidates shall be at least rising junior level (completion of 4 semesters) working towards a B.S. or graduate student working towards a M.S degree in Geology/Geological Sciences; Chemical, Civil, Geological, or Environmental Engineering; Environmental Sciences; or other relevant degree and have an interest in pursuing a career in environmental consulting.

* Candidates with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above are strongly preferred.

* Candidates must be willing to travel up to 20% on average and possess a valid driver's license.

* The physical requirements of this position may include the need for climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, sitting, walking, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 40 lbs. In certain situations, this position may expose the candidate to extremes in weather (hot/cold), to high noise levels, and to hazards such as a proximity to moving machine parts and moving vehicles, electrical current and exposure to chemicals. Employees may be required to take specific training and to wear personal protective equipment on some occasions.

Salary Transparency Statement

At Ramboll, your base pay is only part of your overall total compensation package. At the time of this posting, this role is likely to be compensated at an hourly rate between $22 and $25 per hour. Actual pay may be more or less than the posted range, depending on numerous factors, includingexperience, geographical location, internal equity, market conditions, education/training andskill level, and does not include bonuses, overtime, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
