The Research Nurse Lead-LVN is responsible for facilitating the implementation and management of clinical research conducted by LLUHS. Coordinates care, subject screening, recruitment, exams, blood draws and specimen collection, investigational drug administration (within LVN scope of practice), accurate follow-up and documentation of patient's medical experience, accurate documentation of research data, and research charges. Maintains current knowledge of all industry trends affecting national and local research activity. Works independently and balances priorities upon receipt of project direction and focus from Administration and/or the PI. Provides leadership and serves as a role model in the conduct of clinical research. Performs other duties as needed.

Completion of accredited LVN program required. Associate degree preferred. Minimum five years combined experience including nursing, including phlebotomy, and clinical research required, including three years of study coordination. Minimum one year supervisory or project management experience required.

Knowledge of processing and shipping of research samples and leadership training preferred. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate. Able to accept direction; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Able to distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position; discern temperature variances through touch.

Unrestricted active California LVN License required. IV and phlebotomy certification required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (SoCRA, ACRP) required. IATA Certificate required. Valid Driver's License required at time of hire.
