The Opportunity (this is fully remote role) The Vice President, Agency Structured Transactions (VP-AST) will drive design and continuous evolution of the Structured Transactions capabilities at Berkadia in collaboration with a broad network of stakeholders. The Vice President will be responsible for marketing and managing agency structured transactions activity with Berkadia's production network to ensure that our interactions with applicable lending agencies are coordinated, consistent and of the highest possible integrity and quality. Product responsibilities include complete front to end marketing and success facilitation (i.e., origination through loan servicing coordination), covering but not limited to preliminary quotes, transaction submissions, application issuance, transaction negotiations and program compliance. The ideal candidate will enhance Berkadia's vision for structured transactions backed by an energetically growing high-quality healthy pipeline of deals, sourced through Berkadia's internal production network, working collaboratively with our institutional-focused business, mortgage bankers, and borrowers.
- Drive definition of the overall structured transactions approach, delivery model, processes, objectives, resourcing, and messaging.
- Act as a Berkadia crucial subject matter expert and product specialist on structured transaction loan products, generating ideas and insights, galvanizing evolution of structured transactions approaches across the network.
- Track and report on performance across structured transactions-related objectives and milestones; leverage and guide continuous improvement of relevant data capture and data-driven decision-making capabilities,
- Closely follow industry developments, identify and apply innovative solutions; disseminate learnings and good practices across the production network; educate Berkadia's production network on GSE requirements and loan products available to support this sector.
- Execute product responsibilities across the complete front to end span (i.e., origination through loan servicing coordination).
- Collaborate with Berkadia Institutional Solutions to target transactions and appropriately match MBs/borrowers with structured products.
- Build relationships with mortgage bankers and borrowers prior to execution; build long-term approaches for borrowers and Berkadia.
- Provide initial reviews of deal opportunities and recommendations on best courses of action and product executions.
- From Pre-application to close, act as a deal manager, directing and overseeing detailed negotiations and structuring of all loan terms and features with mortgage bankers, borrowers, and agency lenders in alignment with Berkadia's internal credit team.
- Coordinate with production leadership, mortgage bankers, credit, loan closing and loan servicing to provide efficient and streamlined processing of transactions and servicing over the life of the facility.
- Based on practical experiences with specific transactions, distill and evolve codified approaches, frameworks, and options for consistent decision-making.
- Identify challenges, opportunities, and linkages with other efforts across Berkadia's production network to facilitate collaboration, coordination, and development of partnerships.
- Provides guidance, coaching and support to Structured Transactions team members and members of the broader production network championing Berkadia's values.

What you will need to be successful in this role
- Business management experience with versatility in understanding and advising internal partners and clients on issues related to specific transactions and the overall structured transactions trends.
- Demonstrated presence, gravitas, ability to project confidence and trust when working with senior internal stakeholders and clients in one-on-one and group settings.
- Proven experience in framing and achieving challenging programmatic objectives and milestones.
- Detailed knowledge of deal structures and capital stacks specific to loan transactions.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Strong loan negotiation skills.
- Proficient in financial analysis and risk mitigation.
- Ability to work with tight deadlines in a team environment.
- Ability to multitask, manage a pipeline of business, and stay organized, attention to detail.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
- Energetic travel (~30%) anticipated to facilitate marketing efforts among origination offices and directly to customers.
- Seven to ten years prior experience in a similar position.
