Facilities Operating Engineer I - Jacksonville, FL

We have an opening as a Facilities Operating Engineer I in our Jacksonville, FL office!

In this role you will report to the Manager of Facilities in Springfield, VA, but work with and under the general direction of the lead engineer as needed to assist with vendor management as well as maintaining proper documentation to an established electronic file system all of which will demonstrate organizational abilities and attention to detail. In addition, you will assist with being an onsite liaison for associates and onsite managers and be able to provide assistance or information per the established guidelines. You will also assist with seating assignments, hurricane preparation, COVID remediation and any on call emergencies that may arise during the normal shift or outside of that shift (albeit infrequent).

A typical day would start by reporting to work and checking in with the lead engineer or Security to make sure there are no building, personnel, safety, or security issues then performing rounds inside and out of facility to ensure everything is in order. During the day, as needed, observing and communicating with a variety of facility vendors such as Janitorial day porter and night cleaning crew, HVAC, Generator, Waste Removal, Recycling and onsite Micro Market to ensure compliance according to contracts or requesting corrections/improvement to services if deficiencies are identified.

The selected candidate for this position will also perform a variety of maintenance tasks when needed such as minor electrical (replacing light bulbs, ballasts, outlets, switches, etc.), minor plumbing (clogged toilets, leaking faucets, toilets and water lines, etc.), troubleshooting HVAC issues and complaints, minor drywall repairs, patching and painting. When a task is out of in-house scope you will coordinate with established vendors. You will also have the responsibility for daily/weekly/monthly preventative maintenance tasks with machines and systems such as Coffee machines, Copy Machines, AED, Generator, Network Rack UPS Power, Life Safety Systems, etc.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma/GED

  • Maintenance experience and/or mechanically inclined

  • Microsoft Office beginner level proficiency

  • Excellent verbal and written skills

  • Good attention to detail

  • Good organizational skills

  • Responsible and Dependable

  • Positive and supportive attitude

  • Ability to anticipate needs and issues

  • Ability to work independently under management guidelines

  • Ability to self-manage time and tasks

  • Ability to take call for emergencies when they occur day or night

  • Ability to understand and sub manage vendor contracts and their staff

  • Ability to follow up and follow through on assignments independently

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all associates and upper management

  • Ability to track PM schedules and hold vendors accountable for term of contracts

  • Good Driving Record

  • Must be within 30-40 minutes from the office or willing to relocate

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience preferred

  • Auto Cad experience preferred

This positions is onsite at our Jacksonville, FL Office
