To learn more go to: Position Location: Richardson, Tx Position Overview: As the Director, R&D Advance Sensing Technologies you will lead our Research Excellence function of our Advanced Sensing Technology. Your goal will be to develop and identify future and next generation Sensing technologies for the Aerospace, Transportation, Industrial and Logistic portfolio at Honeywell. You will be responsible for providing technical leadership and guidance for several research and development efforts within Honeywell's SAFETY & PRODUCTIVITY SOLUTIONS group. This includes shaping new business opportunities, developing technology strategies and roadmaps and engaging across the corporation to position program proposals for success. Ideal Candidate Experience:
- Participate in research and development efforts to create industry-leading high-performance differentiated solutions.
- Direct the overall planning, executing, tracking, and managing cost, schedule, and scope for all current and future projects in the Advanced Sensing Technology COE portfolio.
- Identify, evaluate and select new and emerging Sensing and IOT technologies that can be assimilated into the organization's portfolio across our 4 verticals.
- Work with the executive team to develop project portfolio roadmaps that align with business objectives/priorities and consider resource availability
- Propose and lead technology incubation and prototype projects that create differentiation and add value.
- Inform and influence product groups in adoption of new technologies.
- Own engineering reviews and ensure the use of systematic problem-solving and standardize processes to overcome problems.
Key Responsibilities This leader will be accountable for functional alignment, driving strategic initiatives, project oversight, and mentoring of the technical team. Also responsible for driving the key elements of the Honeywell Operating System and steering the team through the strategic initiatives to achieve operational goals
- Assess STRAP horizon initiatives and defining an approach to achieve results
- Partner with researchers and academia to evaluate next generation technologies of interest
- Curate disruptive technology portfolio and drive Breakthrough Initiatives
- Evaluate current technology challenges to prioritize projects
- Deliver productivity, delivery, and quality enhancements
- Identify areas for improvement by monitoring and analyzing key performance indicators and implementing ongoing strategies to improve
- Drive project cycle time to improve agility
- Drive implementation of key Honeywell programs and processes
- Conduct planning and analysis of design capabilities to ensure that the best available technologies are employed to provide cost-effective products that meet market expectations.
YOU MUST HAVE
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience with multiple sensing technologies
- Minimum 10 years experience in the Engineering field
- Minimum 5 years experience in a people leadership role
