We are searching for an OB Multi-Functional Worker II to perform a variety of clerical, patient care and other related duties both within and in support of the Family Center Unit. Identify all births, retrieve worksheets and review medical records for additional information. Assemble and prepare patient charts for procedures and discharge. Prepare and maintain files and records for easy access and retrieval. Maintain and update unit policy and procedure manuals. Perform clerical duties including patient admission utilizing the PeopleSoft system, compilation and maintenance of unit census activity sheets, delivery room records, newborn records, etc.



  • Hours: 32hrs
  • Shift: Night shift with weekend and holiday rotation; 11:15pm to 7:15am
  • Location: St. Luke's Hospital - New Bedford, MA


Education and/or Experience Requirements:



  • Equal to completion of four years of high school plus additional specialized training or courses
  • Completion and passing of the Medical Terminology course or successful completion of medical terminology test with a minimum score of 75 is required
  • Computer skills including knowledge of the PeopleSoft computer system and related clerical experience are required
  • Nursing Assistant: Certification in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required
  • Nurse Intern: Must be currently enrolled in a Nursing Degree Program and have successfully completed the beginning Nursing Arts course (Fundamentals of Nursing)
  • One (1) year of related work experience is required


Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus and provide required vaccination documentation unless approved for an exemption or deferral by Southcoast prior to starting employment.
