Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Innovation Office manages the Agency's Open Standards Fare Collection System, called Ventra, which collects fare revenue for approximately 4 million rides per week. The Office also works directly with other departments to provide policy development support and project management resources for innovative technology and strategic process implementations, including developing pilots and proof of concepts and then scaling successful projects to agency-wide solutions. The Office is responsible for an end-to-end update of the Ventra fare collection system, including transitioning the system to open architecture platform, and overhauling the 35-year-old bus fareboxes on every bus. Additionally, the Innovation Office will engage in independent research on emerging transit policies and technologies, and provide innovation leadership by serving as a meeting place to develop an Agency-wide innovation strategy, develop new data integration and management strategies, and plan for potentially disruptive mobility technologies like vehicle automation, micro-mobility services, and multi-modal integration. The Lead Business Systems Analyst is the primary technical resource in the Innovation Office translating the business case and policy goals to technical requirements and technology deployment strategies. This position evaluates and supports the design, procurement, installation, system integration, testing, and maintenance of innovative technology products and data initiatives (e.g. customer-facing apps, real-time and predictive data tools) and provides technical guidance on the Ventra (the Authority's Open Standards Fare Collection System) and farebox systems and future third-party integrations with the fare collection systems.
