In this software engineering role, you will design and implement distributed systems to make Capital Group's investment process measurably more efficient and effective. You will design and build services, drive adoption of best-in-class technologies, and launch critical features to impact over $2 trillion in assets under management.

The ideal candidate for this engineering role will be passionate about our team's mission of applying modern engineering and quantitative methods to drive superior long-term investment results.

Responsibilities:
  • You own the software you design and build.
  • You are aware of and demonstrate software engineering best practices, including writing clean code, writing unit tests, use of design patterns, and documenting your designs.
  • You collaborate effectively with teammates to design and build software solutions.
  • You bring a cloud-first approach to designing robust, distributed, and scalable services for both data processing and calculation.
  • You work to identify and resolve the root causes of endemic problems, and collaborate effectively with other teams to implement correct, long-term fixes.
  • You learn quickly and work with a sense of urgency, while respectful of what came before.

  • 0-2+ years of software development experience in at least one modern language such as Java, Go, Typescript, JavaScript, or Python.
  • Strong OO and functional design skills with an understanding of common design patterns.
  • Experience with Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and high emotional intelligence.
  • Experience working collaboratively within an agile team.
  • Track record of successfully delivering software into production.


Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience designing and building recommender systems and machine learning systems.
  • Experience with financial analytics systems.
