About the Job

Promotional priority for Teamsters runs from 5/16/2022 - 5/22/2022

This position reports to the Operations Director and shares responsibility for the maintenance of the Minneapolis Recreation & Wellness facility as well as the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse. This position must be prepared to work flexible hours. Standard hours are 12:00pm - 8:30pm, Tuesday - Saturday. This position is expected to perform most of the assigned maintenance tasks directly; however, they will be assisted by part-time student employees.

Work Responsibilities:

  • Daily responsibilities are maintaining the North building of the Recreation & Wellness Center and Fieldhouse which include, but are not limited to:
    • Clean and maintain handball/squash courts, including perimeters, walls and glass
    • Clean and maintain gender similar locker rooms and gender neutral changing rooms, including carpet, glass, sinks, mirrors, and steam & sauna rooms
    • Clean and maintain corridors and building entrances (interior and exterior) in both the Recreation & Wellness Center and Fieldhouse
    • Clean and maintain all general areas of the north building & all main staircases
    • Clean and maintain Fieldhouse track perimeter and spot clean surface as needed. Keep area clear of debris and safety hazards
    • Clean and maintain restrooms in Fieldhouse including sinks, mirrors, toilets and floors
    • Clean and maintain north/south gyms, and Cooke 325 & 308 including trash receptacles, drinking fountains and interior perimeters
  • Inspect the North URWC as well as the Fieldhouse for safety and maintenance needs
  • Cross train with the Sr. Building & Grounds worker in the south building to assist as needed or perform duties in their absence
  • Aid student staff with tasks by preparing their needed supplies ahead of student shifts
  • Assist the Sr. Building & Grounds worker with special event set-ups and tear downs
  • Weekly cleaning of Fieldhouse floor in absence of Senior B & G
  • Snow removal at exterior entrances and dome as needed
  • Prepare fields for various sports in the absence of the outdoor grounds staff
  • Assist the Operations Director with long-term maintenance plans, facility inspections, ordering/maintaining equipment and supplies
  • Develop a positive relationship with staff as to carry out effective care of facilities
  • Assist with organizing the annual maintenance list of Minneapolis facilities
  • Attendance at department meetings and workshops
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the Operations Director
Qualifications

Ability to read and write competently in English and lift 50 pounds to shoulder height.
