Retirement Plan Relationship Consultant

Demonstrates full knowledge level in assigned area and works under direction only as needed. Provides dedicated, customized plan consultation and relationship management for assigned, higher dollar American Funds (AF) proprietary retirement plans. Educates plan sponsors, advisors, and consultants; analyzes plan details (i.e., feature utilization, size), coordinates with internal contacts (e.g., North American Client Group and other Retirement Plan Service business units), and identifies opportunities to increase assets, participation and plan retention.

Primary responsibilities/essential functions:
* Consults with advisors and plan sponsors on product capabilities and enhancements to increase plan efficiency and participation, increasing loyalty, resulting in higher plan retention.

* Collaborates with internal partners (e.g., Retirement Plan Coordinator, Retirement Plan Service Specialist) on escalated plan service and maintenance items.

* Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the external environment, and assesses and communicates potential impacts to the business, as well as individual retirement plans.
* Performs additional responsibilities as assigned.

Business & Technical Skills:
* Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of retirement plan design, terminology, regulations and procedures as acquired through ASPPA Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA) or similar professional designation.
