Medical Center: Rehab Core IP (Full Time, Day Shift) -

* This position will oversee all of EAST CAMPUS - Inpatient and Outpatient Speech Departments.*

The Supervisor-Speech Therapy is responsible for inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation services provided by the assigned Speech Therapy Departments or disciplines, and serves as the clinical head. Provides human resource management, materials management, department productivity, compliance with external regulatory requirements that could include Title 22, Joint Commission, CARF, CMS, CCS and third party payors and for the daily operations of the assigned Speech Therapy Departments. Ensures compliance with all departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Serves as a liaison between staff, management and the respective hospitals (UH, CH, EC, or SH). Acts as a clinical resource for the department in their area of clinical expertise. Ensures standards of care are consistent across the continuum. Provides patient care including performing evaluations, treatments and attending rounds and/or case conferences. These services may be provided for both LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.

Master's degree in Speech Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders required. Minimum of three years of experience in medical speech pathology or rehabilitation setting required. Minimum of two years of direct supervisory/management experience required. Currently licensed by the California Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology & Hearing Aid Dispensers Board. American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) certification required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required. CCS-Paneled required or fulfill CCS paneling requirements within twelve months from hired date if assigned to CH.

Fluent in written and verbal English. Ability to speak clearly to gather information, hear on phone and in person. Ability to independently operate required equipment, assessment tools, HME equipment, automobile, copy machine, fax machine, answer telephone, and use of a Thomas Guide. Basic computer skills, familiarity with Windows Operating Systems preferred. Good communication skills with team members, patients and caregivers, physicians and general public. Cooperates with management and other associates in achieving organizational and department goals. Consistently demonstrates constructive interpersonal skills with staff, colleagues, patients and other customers (i.e. explores differing viewpoints and discusses solutions). Demonstrates empathy, warmth, responsibility, initiative, tact, objectivity, flexibility and creativity. Interact professionally and appropriately with others. Flexible with daily patient schedule, able to do several tasks simultaneously, attention detail, and ability to make favorable impressions, able to problem solve, reason and concentrate. Follows verbal and/or written instructions with minimum supervision. Quick thinking. Accepts and integrates clinical and administrative feedback and guidance. Ability to calculate, manipulates, interprets and analyzes numbers. Assesses, evaluates, and synthesizes accumulated facts and figures to determine the correct action/intervention. Good near and far vision (20/40) to read (with or without corrective lenses) to observe patients and distinguish colors. Smell to detect unsafe odors. Adequate hearing to obtain vital assessments and receive communications. Intact sensation so as to "touch" to treat patients, troubleshoot equipment and feel temperature. Verbal skills to clearly communicate.
