This position is based out of Feeding America's new office location in the heart of downtown Chicago. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Employees can be in the office an average of 2-3 days a week (when not travelling for work) and work from home on other days. Employees also have access to a 30-day "work anywhere" program during the course of each calendar year that can be combined with PTO and/or holidays.

The Opportunity

The Coordinator, Communication will contribute to the execution and development of communication projects; manage network news distribution systems; and assist with writing and editing of various communication materials.

Salary: $45,000 - $56,000+ Based on Experience

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director, Internal & Network Communication through writing and editing assignments, presentation deck development and compiling other forms of communication, as needed.
  • Work in partnership with team members on content development, ranging from article submissions to real-time disaster updates.
  • Manage organizational communication vehicles, including but not limited to assembling, editing and disseminating a bi-weekly digital newsletter.
  • Maintain external and internal communication systems (Communications Inbox, iContact, Vimeo, etc.) and support the Communication Team's intranet content.
  • Serve as Communication Team content wrangler and contributing presenter on a monthly Marketing, Communications and Development interdisciplinary food bank network-facing webinar. Manage pre- and post-event communication support.
  • Participate in Communication Team projects as needed; providing food bank network communication support; drafting, proofreading, and editing; and serving as a communication liaison for cross-departmental projects.
  • Support the Donor Partnership Communication Team with draftingFeeding America external-facing communication, including press releases, key messages, corporate donor and cause-related marketing content and customizable toolkit materials, with a consistent brand "voice" reflective of Feeding America.
  • Liaise with The Donor Stewardship Center (TSC) to provide Communication Team assets and coordinate content, as needed.
  • Assists with other tasks and special projects for the Communication Team, such as conducting research, monitoring trends, updating and posting materials, drafting copy and brainstorming.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Skilled writer, editor and proofreader, pays great attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and work under deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Two years of professional work experience or a BS/BA in English, Communications, Public Relations or related field
