POSITION TITLE: ASSISTANT COACH, Competitive Cheerleading
STATUS:Part time
DEPARTMENT: Athletics
DIVISION: Student Development
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt
UNION: Non-union
REPORTS TO: Director, Athletics
PLACEMENT: Support Staff, Grade 7
MINIMUM PAY RATE: Term Stipend

POSITION SUMMARY

Assists Head Coach with organization of practices, experience in coaching, recruitment, team travel, fundraising, and a commitment to providing a positive student-athlete experience. Assists in the training, teaching and conditioning student-athletes. Effective interpersonal and organizational skills are required.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Assist with the recruitment of student-athletes.
2. Assist with organizing and supervising practices and practice plans, set up and take down equipment, hand out equipment, assist with drills.
3. Assist with ordering/inventory of all equipment.
4. Provide a high quality of moral and ethical leadership to student-athletes.
5. Participate in achieving departmental and college goals and objectives.
6. Perform other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. One (1) year of coaching experience.
3. Effective interpersonal, communication, time management, and organizational skills.
4. Valid Illinois Driver's License.
5. Ability to work with diverse populations.
6. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
7. Demonstrated commitment to the college's core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Excellent interpersonal, communication, time management, and organizational skills.
2. Computer experience and technology skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office.
3. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
4. Demonstrated multicultural competence

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. The employee is often required to stand, walk, run, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch. Vision requirements include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
2. Ability to travel between campus locations and to and from community events.
3. Ability to travel in state and nationally.

WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Duties are performed indoors and outdoors daily, as weather conditions permit, in the athletics environment. Noise level can be moderate to loud.

Internal candidates must adhere to the terms of employment regarding length of time in current position as outlined in their union contract.
